(2x)^2 = 4x^2.
(4x^2 * pi * y )/3 = (4x^2ypi)/3

1a )i) 2/7 * x = 2.4

     2x/7 = 2.4

     2x = 16.8

      x = 8.4
1aii) 8.4/20 * 100 = 42%

1b) 8/12 * 9 = 6kg

1c) Mass of fruits = 3/12 * 9 = 2.25

      Price = 3/7 * 8.4 = 3.6

2.25 Kg = $3.6
1kg = 3.6/2.25 = 1.6

1d) Let the cost of the previous week be x

  (25% of x) + x = 2.4

  25x/100 + x = 2.4

  125x/100 = 2.4

   125x = 240

    x = 240/125 = 1.92

Hi again,

What is the probable A* mark in this year's Maths IGCSE? I think I will get 64 out of 70 so is there any chance that I get an A*?!??

Ans 4) a)i) Reflection in x-axis.

aii) Anti-clockwise rotation 90 degree center O

b) Check the diagram attached.

Ans 5b)i) The  volume of the prism = VOlume of cuboid/2. because the prism is half of the cuboid

           Volume of Cuboid = 72cm^3.

          Thus, volume of prism = 36 cm^3.

5bii)     AF*FG.

AF = sqrt(3^2 + 4^2) = 5cm.
FG = 6cm.
       Thus area = 6*5 = 30cm^2

ans8a) roughly measure the distance AB , shud be around 8cm. Multiply it with 30. Answer : Around 240km

8b) 2nd DIagram (part of the circle of radius 5cm Center points A and B)
  c) 2nd  Diagram  (full circle of radius 5cm from center T)

June 2003.

3ai) 7*25 = 175

3aii)25b
3aiii) 100 cents = 1 dollar
        175 cents = 1.75 dollars.

3aiv) 25b/100 = 0.25b

3b) i) c= T/n
     ii) Cost of one bar of chocolate.

3c) i) 8 books - $36

        1 book = 36/8 = $4.5

3cii) 7 books = 36-6.6 = 29.4

       1 book = 29.4/7 = $4.2

3ciii) A = x/y

3civ) A = (x-1)/(y-7)

ans 3b) i) Volume of cylinder = pi*r2*h = 100pi * 14 = 1400pi = 4400 (approx)

          ii) 4400 + 6000 = 10,400cm^3.

          iii)  25* 30*x = 10400 ---> x = 10400/(25*30) = 13.9cm.

3d doesnt exist.

ans5) (1,7) --> (7,3)

         (1,7) + (6,-4) = (7,3)

     x = 6

     y = -4
5bi) Clockwise rotation of 180 degree about the point(2.5,6)

5bii) Enlargement : Center : (1,7). S.F = 3

5ci) 3/2 * 2 = 3

cii) 4.5*6 = 27

     3/27 = 1/9

d) (7-1)/(1-10) = 6/-9 = -0.66666...

Ans6b) i) 2x+3x+1 + (y) = 9x+4

             y = 9x+4-5x-1 = 4x+3

bii) 9x+4 = 49

     9x = 45

        x = 5cm

     sides : 10, 16, 23.
