gotta find the determinant first = 5t^2 -6t

thus the inverse...

(5t/5t^2-6t    -6/5t^2-6t)   = (-5t 6)
(-t/5t^2-6t      t/5t^2-6t)      (t  -t)

that means 5t/5t^2-6t = -5t

therefore, 5t^2-6t = -1

-5t^2 + 6t = 1

-5t^2 + 6t -1 = 0

t = 1/5,1

2c) multiply the matrices --> (x^2 + 10) = kx

x^2 + 10  - kx =0

x^2 + 8x + 10 = 0

compare the co-efficients of x..

-k = 8

k = -8

Ya so for this one u gotta take the scale as 1cm is 200cm so 1.8 cm 2.6 cm 3cm etc

hey I got a really hard confusing question in summer 2000 paper its page 7 (a) part were you have to draw an accuarate histogram. it says "use a scale of 2cm to represent 5 grams on the horizontal axis, and an area of 1 square centimeter to represent 5 eggs" how do I do that? can someone upload a picture of the histogram if he/she has done it before? Thanks for helping :)

ok for this question , its best to use simple unitary method.

first get this clear...how the x-axis will be arranged..

5 grams = 2 cm

1) 35<=m<40 = 5 grams = 2cm

2) 40<=m<50 = 10grams = 4cm

3) 50<=m<60 = 10 grams = 4cm

4) 60<=m<75 = 15 grams = 6cm

5) 75<=m<80 = 5 grams = 2cm

now..1cm^2 = 5 eggs.

for the 1st set i.e 35<=m<40...say the height of the rectangle = h

thus, the area of the rectangle = the frequency = 2cm*h cm = 2h cm^2

1cm^2 = 5 eggs
2h cm^2 = 5*2h = 10h eggs. (area)

now the area = frequency

10h eggs = 20 (f)

h = 2cm

thus, for the first rectangle, the height is 2cm, and the width - 2cm (5 grams class width)

do the same for the rest..

2) class width = 10 grams = 4cm

   height = h

   area = 4hcm^2

   1cm^2 = 5 eggs
   4h cm^2 = 20h

   20h = frequency = 60

    h= 3cm

3) class width = 10grams = 4cm

     area = 4hcm^2

     1cm^2 = 5 eggs

      4h cm^2 = 20h eggs

    20h = 200

    h = 10cm

4) cw = 15 grams = 6cm

    area = 6hcm^2

    6h*5 = 30h eggs

   30h = 180

   h = 6cm

5) cw = 5 grams = 2cm

    area = 2hcm^2

    2h*5 = 10h eggs

10h = 40

h = 4cm.

O/N 2004 04 Q3 part (b) and (c) + explaination.....please  :)

b) Water out from the pipe =  1.6cm^2 * 14 cm/sec = 22.4 cm^3 /sec
Volume of the tank - 552920.3071 cm^3

22.4cm^3 = 1 second
552920.3071 = 52920.3071/22.4 = 24683.94228 seconds = 6 hours 51 minutes

c)  1m = 100cm
     1m^2 = 10000cm^2
     70m^2 = 700000cm^2

    552920.3071cm^3/700000cm^2 = 0.789886153 cm = 7.9mm

Nearest mm = 8mm
