Title: Lessons 1 >> 9 ~

Okay this is a long lesson but TRUST me, it is WORTH reading. =]

Enjoy Your Life

The art of interacting with people…as deducted from a study of the Prophet Salalahu Alayhi wa Salaam’s life.

The Tongue is King

I was thinking about factors that cause hatred and arguments between people and make them cumbersome for each other, such that one may not even like to see or be in someone’s company, or travel with him, or even attend his wedding. I discovered that it is the tongue that causes a man to stoop to such a level. How often brothers or couples quarrel all because of verbal abuse, backbiting or insults!

When we are able to deliver our thoughts to others with beautiful manners, why then resort to horrible ones?

There was once a king who saw in a dream that all his teeth had fallen out. He called a dream-interpreter, told him what he saw in the dream, and asked him to interpret it.

When the interpreter heard the dream his complexion changed and he began to repeat, “Allah’s refuge is sought! Allah’s refuge is sought!”

The king became worried and asked, “What is the interpretation of my dream?”

The interpreter said, “After many years pass, your wife and children will die and you will be all alone in your kingdom!”

The king screamed, became furious, and began to hurl abuses and insults. He then ordered the interpreter be imprisoned and called another interpreter; related to him what he saw in the dream and asked him for its interpretation.

The dream interpreter smiled and said, “Glad tidings, dear king!”

The king said, “What is the interpretation of the dream?”

The interpreter said, “It means that you will live for very long-so long that you will be the last of your family to die, and you will remain a king your entire life.”

The king became very pleased, showered him with gifts and remained content with him whilst angry with the first dream interpreter. If you contemplate, you will realize that both of the interpretations were the same, the difference was in the way in which the interpretation was conveyed. Hence, the tongue is the master.

The Prophet Salalahu Alayhi wa Salaam said: "When the son of Adam wakes up in the morning, all of his body parts humble themselves in front of the tongue and say, 'Fear Allah with regards to our rights! Our well-being depends on you. If you remain upright, so shall we. If you become crooked, so shall we." (Ahmed and at-Tirmidhi, Hasan)

Yes, by Allah, the tongue is master. It is master as it delivers the Friday sermon. It is master as it rectifies people’s relationships. It is master as it bargains in the marketplace. It is master as it debates in a court of law.

However; this does not mean that if a person loses his tongue his life ends. Rather; those with strong determination remain heroes, no matter how many faculties they loose.

My friend, Abu ‘Abdullah, is no different to the rest of my friends, but he is-and Allah bears witness to this-the most eager from them all to do good works. He is involved in a number of daw’ah projects, including the the’wah work he does during his work. He works as a translator in an institute for the deaf and mute.

One day he called me and said, “What do you think if I bring to your mosque two men from the institute of the deaf to deliver a lecture to the people?”

I became surprised and said, “The deaf delivering a lecture to those who hear?”

He said, “Yes! Let us come this Sunday.”

I impatiently waited until Sunday. When it finally came, I stood by the door of the mosque waiting for them, until Abu ‘Abdullah arrived in his car and parked it near the main doors of the mosque. He then got out of the car along with two men.

One of them was walking next to him, whilst the other was being held by Abu ‘Abdullah and being led by his hand.

I looked at the first of them to notice that he was deaf and mute. He could not hear or speak, but he could see. I looked at the second one to notice that he was deaf, mute and blind. He could neither hear, nor speak, nor see. I stretched forth my hand and shook Abu ‘Abdullah’s hand. The man to his right-later I found out his name was Ahmad-was looking at me with a smile, so I stretched forth my hand to shake hands with him.

Abu ‘Abdullah then said to me pointing to the blind man, “Great Fayiz too.”

I said, “As-Salaamu ‘Alaykum, Fayiz!”

Abu ‘Abdullah said, “Hold his hand, as he can neither hear nor see you.”

I placed my hand in his, and he grabbed my hand firmly and shook it.

They then entered the mosque. After the prayer, Abu ‘Abdullah sat on a chair with Ahmad sitting on his right and Fayiz sitting on his left. The people were watching in amazement. They were not accustomed to a deaf person sitting on a chair and delivering a lecture!

Abu ‘Abdullah then turned to Ahmad and said something in sign language. Ahmad responded to him in sign language. The people watched but did not understand anything, so I suggested to Abu 'Abdullah that he translate what he said, as no one is able to understand sign language except the deaf or someone well-versed in sign language. Abu 'Abdullah brought the microphone close and said, "Ahamd is relating to you the story of how he was guided." He said, "I was born deaf and raised in Jeddah. My family would neither cater for me nor pay any attention to me. I used to see people going to the mosque, but I wouldn't know why! I would often notice my father laying down a prayer mat, prostrating and bowing, but I wouldn't know what he was doing. Whenever I asked my family about it, they would belittle me and never answer my questions."

Then Abu 'Abdullah became quiet and said something to Ahmad in sign language. Ahmad then continued with his speech in sign language and suddenly his complexion changed, as if he had been emotionally affected. Abu 'Abdullah lowered his head as Ahmad began to cry profusely. Many among the audience were affected by this although they had no idea why he was crying. He continued to speak in sign language until he stopped.

Abu 'Abdullah then said, "Ahmad is now relating to you the period of his life when he changed: how he came to know about Allah and prayer due to a person on the street who taught him out of pity for him, and how, when he began to pray, he felt closer to Allah by imagining the great reward awaiting him due to his condition as well as how he got to taste the sweetness of faith."

Abu 'Abdullah continued to relate the rest of his story as the people listened in amazement.

However, I was busy thinking about something else! I would look at Ahmad and then at Fayiz and say to myself, "Ahmad can see and knows sign language, which is why Abu 'Abdullah is able to communicate with him. I wonder how he is going to communicate with Fayiz knowing he can neither see, hear nor speak?"

Ahmad finished delivering his lecture and began wiping away his tears. Meanwhile, Abu 'Abdullah turned to Fayiz.

I asked myself, "What is he going to do?

Abu 'Abdullah struck Fayiz's knee with his fingers, and there he was delivering a moving lecture. Any idea how he delivered that lecture? Did he speak? How could he, for he was mute! Did he use sign language? How could he, for he was blind and have never learnt sign language! He delivered his lecture by 'touch language'.

Abu 'Abdullah, who was the translator, placed his hand between Fayiz's hands. Fayiz wold then touch his hand in particular ways by which Abu 'Abdullah knew what Fayiz was trying to say. He would then relate to us what he understood from Fayiz. Sometimes it would take up to a quarter of an hour to understand what he was trying to say.

Fayiz would then sit still, not knowing whether the translator had finished translating or not, as he was of course neither able to hear nor see. When the translator would finish speaking, he would strike Fayiz's knee once again. Fayiz would then stretch out his hands and grab hold of the translator's hand and touch it in particular ways to convey his message.

The people remained seated, watching Fayiz and the translator communicating with amazement. Fayiz was encouraging the audience to repent to Allah for their sins. He would at times hold his ears, then his tongue, and then place his hands over his eyes. We would not understand what he meant until Abu 'Abdullah translated for us. He was advising the people to guard their ears and eyes lest they fall into the forbidden. As I looked at the people, I noticed some people sigh, "SubhanAllah", others whispered to the person sitting next to them, others were watching with great interest and still others were crying.

As for me, my mind had wandered off very far indeed. I began to contemplate on the faculties Fayiz had in comparison to what the audience were blessed with, and contrasted that with Fayiz's services for the religion in comparison to that of the audience.

Surely the concern that this blind, deaf and mute person had for Islam was greater than the concern in the hearts of all the audience combined!

Although the man had a very limited number of faculties, he was exhausting himself in service to this religion. He felt as if he was a solider of Islam, responsible for anyone who sinned or fell short. He was constantly moving his hand, as if he was admonishing. For how much longer will you abandon the prayer? For how much longer will you continue to look at the Haraam? For how much longer will you continue with your disgraceful acts? For how much longer will you continue to consume Haraam? For how much longer will you continue upon Shirk? For how much longer? Is it not enough that its enemies are waging a war against our religion? Why do you have to join the war against our religion?"

The poor man's complexion would often change as he shared what he had in his heart with the audience, who were in turn greatly affected. Although I did not turn around to look at the people, I could still hear people crying and sighing "SubhanAllah!"

Fayiz eventually finished his lecture and got up, as Abu 'Abdullah held his hand. The audience came to him to greet him. I saw him greeting them and it was obvious to me that he treated everyone equally. He greeted everyone and did not distinguish between rich and poor, leaders and followers. I thought to myself that if only all people were like Fayiz!

Abu 'Abdullah took Fayiz out of the mosque. I walked by their side as they made their way to the car. I saw Fayiz and the translator joking with each other and thought to myself how insignificant this world was! How many people have not been afflicted with a quarter of Fayiz's problems, and yet they are still unable to overcome their sadness and sorrow!

How about those who have chronic illnesses, such as kidney failure, paralysis, thrombus, diabetes or other impediments? Why don't they enjoy their lives and learn to live with the reality?

How wonderful it is when Allah afflicts His servant and then looks into his heart to find that he is still thankful, pleased and yearning for his reward from Him!

Many days have passed, and yet Fayiz's picture is still embedded in my memory. If Fayiz can be so successful in life and earn the love of people being blind, mute and deaf, then how about the one who has been blessed with a tongue, sight and hearing?

Use your tongue to gain people's love!

Reality...

A man's flesh is not fit for eating nor is his skin fit for clothing-there is nothing in him except the sweetness of his tongue

I have the book downloaded also on my laptop. I'll make sure I send it to you and many other references for the things I read.

Yeah it is funny how we all waste our time chatting, watching tv, hanging out with friends, or even watching a youtube video or listening to a song but when it comes to reading something related to Islam we find it very difficult to do so. Yeah shitan's whisper.

I feel the same sometimes but then I remember how the shitan will make me busy with my life and I'll end up missing out the great knowledge.

Reading is truly the key to success and every religion requires reading. That's why we have the Quran, Bible etc and so we must train ourselves to read! :D

May God bless you for encouraging me more to post more. =] <3  :-*

~Patience is considered the greatest virtue in Islam. Allah (S.W.T) tests us in many ways, but He also gives glad tidings to those who "strive their utmost and preserve patience". At times, when we despair about things like being treated unfairly, a relation breakup, or even getting low grades we should think of people who are afflicted with greater problems. We should thank the Almighty God and invoke His blessings no matter where we are or what we are doing.

Mony, I can't thank you enough for sharing this lesson with us.  :)

Allah Bless you.

This is simply amazing :)
These words really got me thinking
Quote
How many people have not been afflicted with a quarter of Fayiz's problems, and yet they are still unable to overcome their sadness and sorrow!
This is so true, Sometimes when we face very little hardships we get all sad and complain that why is it me?
Yet we forget all the rewards Allah has given us, our hands, the ability to talk , read, write, understand, free from any harmful disease, Our family, friends and countless things.
Instead of complaining we should think about people who are in worse situations than us, we have shelter some people dont, we have food to eat and so many other luxuries and some people dont even have enough food for one time.
And how many times did we thank Allah for all that He has given us, even me? Maybe once in two days  :-[

"Allah Forgive me and Thank you for giving me whatever you have given me"

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful lesson.
And can you give me the details of that book? please

The audience came to him to greet him. I saw him greeting them and it was obvious to me that he treated everyone equally. He greeted everyone and did not distinguish between rich and poor, leaders and followers. I thought to myself that if only all people were like Fayiz!

Funny how we treat people differently according to their positions, wealth, looks, skin color or nationality...if we were all like Fayiz...

If Fayiz can be so successful in life and earn the love of people being blind, mute and deaf, then how about the one who has been blessed with a tongue, sight and hearing?

Look at all of us now? Sitting there and speaking about Fayiz. Isn't he just a legend mashAllah although he misses a lot of stuff. Can't we all be like him? In fact we can even be better than him because Allah gave us more! All we have to do is JUST USE IT and not waste it.

@Abod, well yea it takes us 4-5 hours of chatting, 2 hours to watch a movie, 1-3 hours to listen to songs, another 4 hours hanging out with friends and 8 hours of sleep. How many hours left for Allah? Or shall I ask how many MINUTES do we spend daily reading something about Islam or reading the Quran?

Thank YOU for the +rep! :D
Thank you for reading. InshALLAH you'll be rewarded for it. =]

@Angel, not a night I sleep without thanking Allah for every single thing I have..just make a habit. Do you know the night and morning azkars? Because among them are certain dua's for thanking Allah said like :

Allahumma ma asbaha bee min nia'matin, Wa bi-ahadin min khalqik, Faminka wahdaka la shareeka lak, Falakal-hamdu walakash-shukr
O Allah, what blessing I or any of Your creation have risen upon, is from You alone, without partner, so for You is all praise and unto You all thank

And the reply that I'm going to give you for all what you said above is that we LACK one thing..that's : GRATITUDE. This is unfortunately what most of us don't have and because of that we never get satisfied with our lives yet never be happy.

Thank you for reading sister. I am very glad that this benefited you all as mush as it did to me and inshAllah seeing the responds..I'll be posting more useful and inspiring things.

I'll send you the book to download via pm. =]
Jazki Allah khair for reading once again. <3

When I first read this.. It did touch my heart. But only because I realized how EASY it is to be a great person in this life, yet such a small number of people actually stick with trying to be better people, and are eventually great - most tend to get carried away by worldly desires.

There's a book which I'd recommend everyone to read - although I don't agree with the ideologies the book carries, it definitely has a clear message. The book is called Siddharta, and is very short.

Title: Lesson 2 : Don't kill yourself by grief
Post by: Shoshou..Mony on June 19, 2011, 03:59:30 pm
Okay, this time I made it short since the first lesson was very long. =]

I was reading a book called 'Enjoy Your Life' written by the intelligent scholar Dr.Muhammed Al-Arifi and there I learned that we, humans, shouldn't kill ourseleves with grief, for that will not lighten our troubles. How often do you see yourself complaining and others also about problems we have in our lives? Does this make us happier? Does this solve our own problems? No, it doesn't.

Read the following story, Dr.Abdullah had his eldest son went to a wedding party with the entire family in a nearby city, whilest he remained behind in Madinah due to his commitments at the Universaity. On the way back they were involved in a terrible road accident in which they died - all ELEVEN of them!
The Doctor was a righteous man beyond fifty years of age, but nevertheless, a human being with feelings and emotions. He had a heart in his chest, and two weeping eyes and of course a soul that became happy and sad.
When he heard the terrible news, he prayed over them and burried them with his own hands, all eleven of them.
Guests would come to his house and bring coffee along with them, as he didn't have anyone to help him prepare anyhting for them. What is amazing is that if you were to see the man receiving condolences, you would think that he was the one giving condolences, and that the one enduring this tragedy was someone else!

Glory be to the One who gave him patience and made him strong!
He would repeatedly say, "To Allah we belong and to Him we return. It belongs to Allah, whatever He takes or gives. Evertyhing has an appointed time with Allah."

This is the peak of intelligence, for if he did not behave in this manner, he would have died of grief.

Allah swt said : who, when a misfortune confronts them, say: "Surely we belong to Allah and to Him invariably we do return." These are those upon whom are blessings from their Rabb and mercy, and these are themselves the guided.
 Surah Al baqraha verse 156-157

Don't complain, don't be depressed, learn to live your life with what you have available because with gratitude you'd earn satisfaction and always be happy.
To all my beloved sisters and brothers, to all the depressed people who got their lives full of problems and sadness, say this dua because it acts like magic :

It was reported from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No person suffers any anxiety or grief, and says:

‘Allaahumma innee ‘abduka wa ibn ‘abdika wa ibn amatika, naasiyati bi yadika, maadin fiyya hukmuka, ‘adlun fiyya qadaa’uka, as’aluka bi kulli ismin huwa laka sammayta bihi nafsaka aw anzaltahu fi kitaabika aw ‘allamtahu ahadan min khalqika aw ista’tharta bihi fi ‘ilm il-ghaybi ‘andak an taj’ala al-Qur’aana rabee’ qalbi wa noor sadri wa jalaa’a huzni wa dhahaaba hammi

‘O Allaah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant, my forelock is in Your hand, Your command over me is forever executed and Your decree over me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You which You name Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or You taught to any of Your creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur’aan the life of my heart and the light of my breast, and a departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety.’

Title: Lesson 3 : Don't sweat the small stuff ~
Post by: Shoshou..Mony on June 22, 2011, 11:33:25 am
(https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/225317_225304400820120_210201765663717_1103556_4049936_n.jpg)

I woke up early today, excited about all I get to do before the clock strikes the midnight. I have responsibilities to fulfill today. My job is to choose what kind of day i'm going to have.

I can complain because the weather is rainy or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free. Today, I can feel sad that I dont have more money, or be glad taht my finances encourage me to plan my purchases wisely guide me away from waste. Today I ca grumble about my health, or I can rejoice that I am alive. Today I can lament over all my parents didn't give me when I was a child, or I can be grateful that they allowed me to born.

Today I can cry because roses have thorns, or I can celebrate that thorns have roses. Today, I can whinde because I have a job, or I can shout for joy because I have a job to do! Today I can complain because I have to go to school, or I can eagerly open my mind and fill it with new tidbits of knowledge.

Today I can murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework, or I can feel honored because the Lord has provided shelter for my mind and soul. Today stretches ahead of me waiting to be shaped and here I'am the sculptor who gets to do the shaping. Whats today will be like is up to me. I get to choose what kind of day I will have. ~ Richard Carlson

So, why choose the path of complaint over the path of gratitude? Being grateful or being overextended~ Dont sweat the small stuff, please!!

"And this life of the world is only amusement and play! Verily, the home of the Hereafter, that is the life indeed (i.e. the eternal life that will never end), if they knew"

(Al-Ankabut:64)

Prophet Muhammed(pbuh) said, "Look at the people who are below you and do not look at the people who are above you, so that you do not be greedy or ungrateful of Allah Blessings."

When she told me, I just cried. I felt so bad. :'(

"Most of the people with whom we mix, no matter how evil they may be, will always have some good in them, even if it be relatively little. In such cases, if we are able to access their good qualities, then that is for the best.

A criminal may be known for climbing over into people’s houses and stealing their property in order to give some of it to the destitute and the orphans, or even to build mosques therewith! Likewise a woman may see some orphans starving, so she fornicates to earn some money to stave their hunger, or a person carrying a knife to stab someone, then he sees a child or a woman, and his heart melts so he drops the knife! Therefore, you should deal with the people in accordance with what you know of good from them, before thinking badly of them. Our beloved Prophet, Muhammad PBUH was known for his character of making excuses for those who err, and thinking good of those who sin. When he would come across a sinful person, he would first look at the aspects of his faith, then look at the aspects of his whims and disobedience. He would not have bad thoughts about anyone. He would treat them all as his own sons and brothers.

When you deal with people, be just. Remember the good that they have, and make them feel that their evil has not made you forget their good. This will bring them closer to you."

You can change the people around you not by your words but rather by your good manners.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr: "The Prophet never used bad language neither a 'Fahish nor a Mutafahish. He used to say 'The best amongst you are those who have the best manners and character.' (Translation of Sahih Bukhari)

Non-Muslims who used to fight to Prophet pbuh when spreading Islam would convert to Islam ONLY because of the Prophet's sallah Allah aliho w salam manners.

Be an example to others, fix your manners and your religion rather than blaming other people and criticising them. If you want to change this world for the better, START from yourself and TRUST me, you'll make a difference inshAllah. =] ?

Another good lesson I came across when I was in the airport waiting for the airplane and I must say the final quote under ART made me realize a lot... really a lot.

The other lessons I posted are here : https://studentforums.biz/chit-chat/lesson-1-the-tongue-is-king-(must-read)/

I will join all my lessons in one thread after posting it for few days. =]

"It is wrong for a person to accuse anyone else of something wrong except with full knowledge and tangible proof."
As Muslims, the default assumption we should have about other people in any matter is that they are free of blame. Islam demands fairness and impartiality when it comes to judging others.

Allah says: "And when you speak, then be just, though it be (against) a relative." [Sûrah al-An`âm: 152]

He also says: "O you who believe! stand out firmly for Allah, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of any people make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to piety: and fear Allah. For Allah is well-acquainted with all that you do. " [Sûrah al-Mâ'idah: 8]

It is wrong for a person to accuse anyone else of something wrong except with full knowledge and tangible proof. It is forbidden to base a judgment against someone on hearsay, conjecture or suspicion.

Allah says: "O you who believe! If a wicked person comes to you with any news, ascertain the truth, lest you harm people unwittingly, and afterwards become full of repentance for what you have done." [Sûrah al-Hujurât: 5]

He also warns us: "O you who believe! Shun much suspicion; for lo! some suspicion is a sin." [Sûrah al-Hujurât: 12]

In those cases where one is compelled to mention another person's faults, it is best to mention that person's good points as well. It is wrong to exaggerate the importance of the person's error or stress the fault too much, especially if it is possible that the error was an honest mistake or in a matter where the truth is not 100% clear.

If a person's error is clearly manifest and established by solid evidence, then it is not wrong to warn people against the error and clarify the truth. However, that correction must be carried out appropriately, in a gentle manner that does not drive people away. The mistake itself should be corrected without delving into anything beyond that. For example, the person who made the mistake should not be accused of having bad intentions or an evil motive.

Al-Dhahabî, speaking about the mistakes of the scholars, said the following: [Siyar al-A`lâm al-Nubalâ' (14/374)]:

If we were to discredit every person who made mistake in judgment or declare those people as innovators – people who are essentially of good faith and sincerely seek the truth – then scarcely would any of our scholars be spared.

Speaking about Qatâdah – the illustrious Successor – he said [Siyar al-A`lâm al-Nubalâ' (2/271)]:

He was one who asserted human free will to the extent of denying Divine Decree over human actions. We ask Allah to protect us from such ideas. On the other hand, no one ever doubted his honesty in the least, or his integrity, or the strength of his memory. It is quite possible that Allah forgives the likes of him for falling into certain innovated ideas with no other intention but to glorify Allah and to hold Him far above (the bad deeds that people commit.) Allah is the judge who is just and merciful towards His servants. He is not to be asked about what He does.

We should keep in mind that people of knowledge, intelligence, integrity, and piety – who are meticulous in investigating matters and who are quite often correct in their conclusions – they are to be pardoned when they err in their judgment on occasion.

Their good qualities and good work should not be dismissed. Of course, we do not follow what is shown to be wrong, regardless of who the mistake came from. However, we do not use it to discredit the good that a person has done.

And Allah knows best.

Reminded me of three Hadiths which I'd like to share:

*Whoever builds a house for Allah, Allah will build a house for him in Paradise

Mahmud ibn Labid (rha) reported that Uthman ibn ‘Affan (ra) decided to rebuild the Mosque (of Allah’s Messenger in Medina) but the people did not like this idea and they wished that it should be preserved in the original form. So Uthman said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (sa) say: “He who builds a mosque for Allah, Allah would build for him (a house) in Paradise like it.”

[Sahih Muslim, Book 042, Number 7110]

*True richness is the richness of the soul

Narrated Abu Huraira (ra): The Prophet (sa) said, “Richness is not having many possessions. Rather, true richness is the richness of the soul.”

[Sahih Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 76, Number 453]

*There is nothing heavier on the scale than good character

Narrated Abu Darda: The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: “There is nothing heavier upon the scale of a believer (on the Day of Judgment) than good character.”

[Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 41, Number 4781]

When I was reading this I was like this is from the book " kai tastamti3 bi7ayatak" written by  Sheik Mohammed Al3areefi o.O , isn't that true ?  ...I read about Quarter of the book and it was AWESOME , I recommend it , I'm sure you'll ADORE it ;)

I was talking to my sister the other day about a friend who has done wrong to me ..You know what she told me ,you shouldn't be sad because that person did this , if you think of this person as an "Evil" person for doing this to you then you'll hate that person , so don't do that just think that this quality "say it's taking advantage of other people" is just one of his Faults as in think of the Person as a "Sinner" ,that way  you'll feel sorry for her and eventually pray for her <3

+ Rep ..You never fail to impress me <3

Ah so true. Not forgiving a person or remembering what bad he/she had done to you is like carrying a heavy stone in your heart. Imagine yourself carrying a heavy stone? A very big heavy one? You'd get exhausted yes? Well, that's how your heart feels when you don't forgive. Every time you remember how bad they treated you..how awful they were with you..your heart burns with pain, that's why it is just best to throw away that heavy stone and that will happen by learning how to forgive, because it doesn't get you anywhere when you don't forgive and hate. It doesn't get you back what you lost and it doesn't make you happy or satisfied either.

You never fail to make me fall in love with you more and more everyday. =] God bless you Gigi. You have a very kind heart and a beautiful soul mashAllah. <3

A story which reminded me of the Power of the Tongue lesson. :D

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. When the other frogs saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead.
The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.
The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, “Did you not hear us?” The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.
There is power in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day. On the contrary, a destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes to kill them. Be careful of what you say - especially to yourself.

Title: Lesson 5: Temptations ~
Post by: Shoshou..Mony on July 09, 2011, 02:34:29 am
(http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_D-LZxhXlNXY/SZT-gmaH_9I/AAAAAAAAJIM/U-69JhQ_xzE/s400/beautiful-nature-photographs.jpg)

I read about a young Muslim in Britain who came across an advertisement by a company looking for escorts. He went to the interview to find a group of young men comprised of Muslims and non-Muslims. The interviewees were entering into the interview room one after the other, and every time a person would come out, those waiting outside would ask, “What did they ask you? What did you say?”

One of the important questions they asked the interviewees was, “How much alcohol do you drink a day?” When the young man’s turn came, h entered and began to answer their questions. During the session, they asked the same question.

The young man thought to himself that perhaps he should lie and say that he drinks alcohol like the rest of the young men, just so that they would not think that he was a strict Muslim. He also contemplated speaking the truth and saying, “I am a Muslim and Allah has forbidden me from drinking alcohol. Therefore, I do not drink.”
After some quick thinking, he decided to speak the truth. Thus, he said, “I do not drink.”
They said, “Why? Are you ill?”
He said, “No, but rather because I am a Muslim and alcohol
is forbidden for me.”
They said, “Meaning, you don’t drink? Even on the weekends?”
He said, “Yes. I do not drink at all.”

They looked at each other in surprise. When the results were published, his name was top of the list! He began to work with them and several months passed. One day, he spoke to one of the interviewers and asked him, “Why did you ask questions about alcohol consumption?”

He said, “Because the job is to do with escorting, and every time we have employed a young man, we would be surprised to discover that he drank and got drunk. When we realised that you do not drink, we knew that we got the person we were looking for, and hence we employed you!”

How wonderful it is to stick to your principles, despite temptations! The problem is that we live in a society where it is difficult to find those who stick to their principles – people who live and die for them, those who rigidly adhere to them in the face of temptations.

If you follow the right method and adhere to the straight path, then those who believe in different principles will never leave you alone. Whenever you refuse a bribe, the friends who are attempting to bribe you are angered. Whenever you refuse to indulge in illicit sexual relations, those who do indulge in them will become upset with you.

It is related that ‘Umar bin al-Khattab – may Allah be pleased with him – was once on a night patrol. He passed by a house in the darkest part of the night and heard the people therein laughing and fooling around as if they were drunk. He did not wish to knock at their door at night and feared he might have wrongly assumed that they were drunk. He therefore wished to ascertain the matter. He therefore took a piece of coal, made a mark on the door, and left. The owner of the house heard something at the door, so he went out and noticed the mark. He looked up to see the back of ‘Umar and understood what had happened. What he should have done was to wipe out the mark and that would have been the end of the matter. But he didn’t do that. Instead, he took the piece of coal and went to his neighbours’ houses, leaving marks on their doors! It was as if he wanted the people to be as base as him by being drunk like him, instead of wanting to raise himself to their level!

There is an idiom which says, “A fornicating woman wishes that all women fornicated like her.” Sometimes you may find that a wife habitually lies to her husband. She has been cultured to be a habitual liar from a very young age. When she comes across someone who criticises her for that and advises her to speak the truth, she will try to drag her to her side of the fence. She would insist, “This is all you can do with men! You cannot live with them except by lying to them.” Some women listening to this may begin to give up their principles and change while others may remain firm on their principles.

A grocer, for example, may not sell cigarettes, but then his friend comes to him and advises him to sell cigarettes to increase his profits and puts doubts in his mind to convince him of his opinion. Be brave and stick to your principles. Say in a loud voice, “Never! No matter what the temptations!”
In the past, some disbelievers tried to make the Messenger of Allah pbuh give up some of his principles, and hence, Allah said, “They wish that you compromise, so they too can compromise.”

Meaning, that the disbelievers who worship idols have no principles to adhere to, and hence, they see no difficulty in giving anything up. So be wary of them ever tempting you to lose grip of your principles.

Methodology
Allah says, “Do not obey those who reject the truth. They
wish that you compromise, so they too can compromise.”

Written By : Dr.Muhammed Al-Arifi

You have your OWN principles, you have your OWN beliefs and you have your STRONG personality, so you do NOT get affected by the people around you. You are the one who have an influence on them because they are weak but you are NOT weak. You are strong enough to say NO to those who offer you a cigirattes or ask you to join them in the forbidden.

Title: Brought me to tears...=] Lesson 6 ~ Paid IN FULL
Post by: Shoshou..Mony on July 12, 2011, 01:19:46 am
(http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_R0M9_Dhyhf8/TB86xE0RswI/AAAAAAAAAAc/0hz0XvCBvZU/s1600/parents-love-27810.jpg)

A little boy came up to his mother in the kitchen one evening while she was fixing supper, and he handed her a piece of paper that he had been writing on. After his mom dried her hands on an apron, she read it, and this is what it said:

For cutting the grass: $5.00

For cleaning up my room this week: $1.00

For going to the store for you: $.50

Baby-sitting my kid brother while you went shopping: $.25

Taking out the garbage: $1.00

For getting a good report card: $5.00

For cleaning up and raking the yard: $2.00

Total owed: $14.75

Well, his mother looked at him standing there, and the boy could see the memories flashing through her mind. She picked up the pen, turned over the paper he had written on, and this is what she wrote:

For the nine months I carried you while you were growing inside me: No Charge.

For all the nights that I’ve sat up with you, doctored and prayed for you: No Charge.

For all the trying times, and all the tears that you’ve caused through the years: No Charge.

For all the nights filled with dread, and for the worries I knew were ahead: No Charge.

For the toys, food, clothes, and even wiping your nose: No Charge.

When you add it up, the cost of my love is: No Charge.

When the boy finished reading what his mother had written, there were big tears in his eyes, and he looked straight up at his mother and said, “Mom, I sure do love you.”

And then he took the pen and in great big letters he wrote:

“PAID IN FULL.”

This really made me cry a lot. My parents did A LOT to me. I am who I am now because of them. Their health, their energy, their life is all given and spent on us. Just the thought of how much my parents went through to make me who I am now, to educate me, to spend hours shopping just to get me the right clothes, to spend days and nights awake with me to help me study for my exams and to work all day just to earn the money which would make me alive..brings me to tears.

Our parents owe us NOTHING. In fact, we are the ones who owe them for bringing us to this life.

Let us, ALL OF US, do something special to our parents everyday. I'm making it a habit to hug and kiss both my parents daily and thank them for everything they did to me. Just how when we were little babies they would carry us all day, kiss, hug, cuddle, feed and take care of us daily, we should ALL do the same to them now. Yes, we should prepare them a cup of tea to drink, we should help them around the house, kiss and hug them, spent some time with them joking and speaking to them not to feel lonely.

Treat your parents the way you want your OWN children in the future to treat you, because believe it or not...what goes around, comes around.

first things first; no... Just here to visit my dad, he works here... and we miss him all the rest of the year...

Yeah just a spur of the moment rap to convey what I feel about my land.....thanks for the compliment! =D

I dunno, but that sees the most likely thing... although the war has been going on for decades, only difference was that the weapons of choice were the media and the idiot-box... now all our countrymen are so numb that when America attacks our lands, kills innocents and bombs homes, all our people do is sit around, actually, I am wrong, the people feel it, but the government sits back on its arse doing nothing and filling up their fat bank accounts(know about Raymond Davis?)... But the public have been made to do that; the average person has only thoughts of the next meal, his overdue debts, how to feed his family, or how to keep living on his mind...

Anyway, that's enough of politics for now; they always give me a headache....

Why don't you live with your dad in Mekkah? I was just talking to my Pakistani friend and this is what she said :

I'm living in the place where the major firings are going on. Cars are being burned, people are being killed and stuff. Not a single shop or center is open. Nothing. MQM, a political party is responsible for the happenings. Useless rebels. The city is in trouble. =/

Made me feel bad, you know. I no longer know what's happening to the Muslim world, not a country is without a trouble, war or protests.

No, I don't know anything about pak's politics except that it's REAL bad and the government is awful.

So tell me again..who is the attacker? India? USA? Taliban?

And wow dude, you like rap? You are GOOD MASHALLAH! :D You wrote other stuff before? You can share them on the forum if you want. =]

I know I feel so bad :(
USA, i dont wanna say anything  ::) Taking revenge for the 3000 people that were killed in 9/11 and they have killed thousands of pakis and yet they still want to kill more  >:(
and our leaders, what to do with them...@@@ they are not humans, they should be hanged like seriously O_O
I should stop or i dont know what I will say..

That's sad.

And now, everyone not a country is satisfied with their leaders. I am starting to believe that power corrupts.

You know the whole 2012 theory ? I thought it was stupid but when I read about I found out that the things they expect to happen is all what mentioned in Islam. Like for example they expect the sun to rise from the west?!

Almost all the minor signs are shown already.

If you look at the 2012 theory, most of what the scientists found out was written in Islam 1400 among the signs of day of judgement.

So basically their theory of the world ending soon isn't completely wrong, in fact the stuff they found out might be happening in the near future were all written in our religion.

BUT they can't decide on the date accurately ofc because this Allah knows alone.

I researched this whole 2012 and checked the Islamic view about it. Believe me, no more time to waste.

Just look at how 2011 started and how many stuff happened in it until today. The signs will be coming after each other like a beads falling from a string like what the Prophet pbuh said.

I don't believe in 2012 but I believe in the signs Allah told us will happen which we saw and still seeing these days. =]

Just hope we don't all end up wasting our time doing lifeless stuff in our life instead we should build more in this world, try to improve ourseleves and help spread the words of Allah around. ?

And it is written in the Quran that ONLY the wise people will be seeing the signs, while others will be so busy with the worldly matters and not realizing that the end it near.

Yeah you are right about the minor signs and the major signs will appear one after the other, there wont be a big gap between them, the only time we have is this

2012, yes, I dont believe that the whole world will end and No one except Allah knows the date.

In that program the signs before 'dajjal' appears were told and one of the sign is that the time will slow down "He will be on earth for 40 days from which 1 day will be a year long, 1 day will be a month long, 1 day will a week long and the rest 37 days will be normal".

The host also said that it is mentioned, something will happen to the earth's magnetic field or something and time will slow down but return to normal again. (this is how 1 day could be a year long)

If you research about 2012 it is said that something will happen to the earth's magnetic field O_O
Only Allah knows for sure

P.S. I am not trying to prove something here or saying that I know it for sure, it is just what I feel

^ *Gasps* Wow :o

LOL, yeah. Did you ever hear about the flood that happened in Jeddah this Jan? One of the signs is that the Arabian Gulf will turn into rivers and the desert will become green.

When traveling to Mekkah/Madinah you'd be SURPRISED how most of the desert turned green and the mountains are ALSO BEING GREEN. Like imagine out of the rocks grass coming out? As for that flood that happened in Jeddah..you'd always see ponds in some places, the the protests and the war happening in the entire of Muslim world? I mean...it is said that Muslims will be weak by the end of time, like the foam of the sea and we will lose the battle but ofc not the war.

And then comes the lovely Tsunami and earthquake which moved the earth axis by 10mm? Something like that. And when the axis of the earth changes fully the sun will be rising from the west.

Another sign is that death and murdering will happen and in Arab/Muslim world we see that happening on DAILY BASIS like crazy. The fitnah which will enter every house, the women that will be dressed but at the same time undressed, lifting on Knowledge? Did you know that school in KSA used to be canceled every few days because of the rain? Also in Egypt with all the protests going on the schools stopped. It's like really..we are losing the knowledge.

Children will be foul (at-Tabarani, al-Hakim) >> Like can't we see that nowadays? A 7 years old is having a mobile, FB account, taking pictures of him or her self and posting it in FB, wearing tights and following the fashion. Wallah I always see them.
Women will conspire (at-Tabarani, al-Hakim)
Rain will be acidic or burning (at-Tabarani, al-Hakim) >> Every-time it would rain in Jeddah, a fire happens. It never used to rain in Jeddah except once or twice a year but this year it even rained in MAY! Like 10-14 times?!
Children of fornication will become widespread or prevalent (at-Tabarani, al-Hakim)
When a trust becomes a means of making a profit (at-Tirmidhi, Al-Haythami)
Gains will be shared out only among the rich, with no benefit to the poor (at-Tirmidhi) >> Yeah yeah, rich being richer and poor becoming poorer.

Great distances will be traversed in short spans of time >> Airplanes

The people of Iraq will recieve no food and no money due to oppression by the Romans (Europeans) (Muslim) >> I just watched that in AL-JAZEERA WALLAH Iraqi people are SELLING THEIR ORGANS TO EAT!

People will hop between the clouds and the earth >> Sky scarpers.

A tribulation will enter everyone?s home (Ahmad)
The leader of a people will be the worst of them (at-Tirmidhi) >> Why are the protests going on then?
Leaders of people will be oppressors (Al-Haythami)
People will treat a man with respect out of fear for some evil he might do (at-Tirmidhi) >> Like those who fear Gadafi? His followers.
Men will begin to wear silk (at-Tirmidhi) >> Happened.
Female singers and musical instruments will become popular (at-Tirmidhi) >> Hifa, Elissa, Nancy, Rihanna and many more?
When singers become common (Al-Haythami) >> They are everywhere.
People will dance late into the night >> Ofc.

There are MUCH MORE check here :http://etori.tripod.com/dajjalsystem/judgement.html

Yeah, 2012 Polo shift.

In 2012 the next polar reversal will take place on earth. This means that the North Pole will be changed into the South Pole. Scientifically this can only be explained by the fact that the earth will start rotating in the opposite direction, together with a huge disaster of unknown proportions.

^This means sun will rise from the west instead of the east.

Another good signs :

A man will leave his home and his thigh or hip will tell him what is happening back at his home (Ahmad) >> Invention of MOBILES.

Wealth will increase so much so that if a man were given 10,000, he would not be content with it (Ahmad & Bukhari) >> LOL my dad and my relatives take that salary and they still think they can have more.

Time will pass rapidly (Bukhari, Muslim, & Ahmad) >> It is sensed WORLDWIDE that time is REALLY going fast!

People will claim to follow the Qur'an but will reject hadith & sunnah (Abu Dawood) >> Like REALLY happening. Women now saying hijab is not a farid or smoking is not 7aram. Others who call Abu Baker liar and other sahabahs.

And Angel about the dajjal I heard it in another way which I can remember. I think one day will be like a week, one week will be like a month and one month will be like a year?

When the Mahdi comes it'll be too late.

And forget the signs, everyone of us has his/her OWN DAY OF JUDGEMENT and that is when we die. I might die tom, this means I will no longer have a chance to fix anything...so yea let's not just assume we will live forever. A change must start from now as long as we are breathing.

The other day I read this hadith about the people who wouldn't see nor smell Jannah.

Among these were the women who were clothed, but yet not clothed. Obviously this means a woman who wears tightly fitted or transparent clothes.
So I was thinking every girl (including me) LOVES wearing skinny jeans. Don't these like, stick to your legs? And I surely DON'T want to be a part of the group of people who don't even smell Jannah! And it is said that you could smell Jannah 70,000 years away. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

The second in the group were women who have humps on their heads. Does this mean tying your hair high? Elaborate please. :)

Yuh know during those days, Makkah and Madinah will be empty. Why ? Because all of the Muslims will be fighting against the non-muslims. We'll be taking over the world and etc. IA. However, Makkah and Madinah will be highly fortified, in other words, Angels will guarding the holy cities and therefore Dajjal won't be able to enter the holy places. I've also heard about something beneath Ka'bah. People in the end will also want to dig the place and find some treasure. =/ The black stone disappearing prolly means that Makkah maybe under-attacked ? And and and, to yer ans to the skinny jeans part. Yuh can wear whatever yuh want, but if yuh reveal it to anyone - even by mistake - Yuh'll be responsible fer it and yuh'll have to suffer. =/ Most of the western clothing are bad fer us. They someway or the other reveal something. I see a lot of girls wearing skin tight shirts and jeans. All they are able to attract are satan's men. And when they get raped, they cry over it and pretend they never did anything wrong. May Allah SWT guide us. Ameen.

I hope yuh wear abaya when yuh go out. And a plain abaya. Nowadays girls wear abayas just fer the sake of it. Their bums and breasts are pretty noticeable through today's fashion or it (Abaya) gets too fancy which also attracts satan's men.

Yeah. The new fashions is leading to disasters.

Praise be to Allah.
Shaykh ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahmaan al-Jibreen (may Allaah preserve him) was asked about the ruling on women wearing jeans. He replied:
“As for women wearing pants or trousers, this is not permitted, even if she is on her own or in front of other women or her husband, except if she is in a closed room with her husband only. Apart from that, it is not permitted because it shows the details of her body and makes her get used to these clothes. So she is not permitted to wear these clothes at all.” (al-Nukhbah min al-Fataawaa al-Nisaa’iyyah, p. 30).

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih ibn ‘Uthaymeen was also asked about the ruling on women wearing any kind of pants or trousers. He (may Allaah preserve him) answered: “I think that women should not wear trousers at all, even if there is no one with her apart from her husband, because this is imitating men. The ones who wear trousers are men, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed women who imitate men.”

Now, see, jeans were not there at the time of the Prophet SAW and therefore he couldn't say anything about them but the quotes above clearly state that it's not permissible. Like lets take an eg, yuh are in yer home, wearing shorts and tank. Now, nobody is watching yuh at home. However, if yuh go by a window and a guy standing nearby looks at yuh, khalaas, yuh earned yerself a sin. It's better if yuh stop wearing skin tight clothes. =/

Anyway, Allah SWT knows best..

Hope this helped. (:

Well, yuh see, the population of women are increasing. The newest issue in KSA - Women must be allowed to drive in KSA - is itself VERY wrong. This will lead to more dates, chichorapan :P, and stalking. Women won't be wearing Hijab since its imp to show yer face while driving. etc. ::)
Some women don't understand and literally convince other women to do such things. Stupidity, i tell yuh.

@MU, =/ Is there a difference? I read it in the Quran. I'll the ayat and show it to you.

@Iluvme, I don't wear abya when I got out. I wear normal clothes, but no matter how loose the clothes are and no matter how decent they get..still, I find many men staring, so I believe wearing the abya would be the best thing. I haven't reached the stage of going out with an abya in Egypt, but..someday I do hope so. I even remember wearing a blue and white dress but everyone looked. Also colors is another reason.

@Crooked, I'm impressed.=] You lead now eh? :D MashAllah, always stay that way. Jazka Allah khair for the info. I would also like that you convince your girl to wear hijab.

@Angel, ahaa. It just means that anyone of us who is bad will not be saved from the dajjal no matter where he/she is because God will find them a reason to get out.

@Romeesa, thank youuuu 7abibity! And yea can't view the vid.=/

Well, one of us is misguided. It can't be both the shia and the sunnah is right but how to convince them that ?

You need to look for the proofs.

And in Jeddah at school I had many shia teachers working with me but I never really got into the shia-sunnah discussion because everytime it happens both sides get into a battle and tbh...sometimes you need to just respect other people's religion or beliefs and move on. If you can't prove to them the truth or convince them and if you do not have the enough knowledge, then just discussing it will create a conflict.

I know.

I don't get into these discussions because I have set up my own beliefs and will follow them only (IA). I have done my research and it was painful one. ::)

Well, there's nothing wrong with discussions but people nowadays get really violent. I once tried talking to her about Shiaa beliefs and she just told me off. =/

Everything happens fer a reason tho. May Allah SWT guide us all. Ameeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen. :D

In fact Romeesa, I no longer have any questions. :P

I researched it all and tbh I can't see how this matter is an issue. ::)

Only Shia's should not insult other sahabas of the prophet pbuh as in they shouldn't go against Aishia, Abu Baker, Omer, and Usman radiah Allah 3anhom. They follow Ali so that's not a problem but going against someone isn't even allowed in Islam and we almost share the SAME of everything except that we follow different immams and that's all!

So again I can't see how this is a big deal?

You might prefer listening to Dr.Naik Zakir and I might prefer listening to Dr.Mohammed Al-Arifi, both are Muslim scholars but surely they won't agree on everything. Got my point? AT the end the MAIN principals are followed and I can't see how any of both parties are wrong.

Haha! I see.

That is one of my personal belief.
No one has the right to insult ANY of the Prophet (PBUH)'s companions. We must respect them all. This is what my parents have taught us since child hood. Islam has reached us all now with so many resources because of these companions, May Allah bless them all.  :-X
Rest Allah knows best. :)

WoW!! 11 pages now and when I left there were 3... you guys are fast!

Cuz the rest of the family stays in Isb the rest of the year...

Yup I've lived in Karachi too and MQM has seriously messed it up... Its actually just a big band of goons turned into a so-called political party to lend them some legitimacy, or maybe to infiltrate the political arena...

Attackers, I can't say.. some say India, some say America, even Israel. I believe it may be a combo of all three along with internal elements incited to provoke unrest by those aforementioned powers..

Ah well....

No I don't; that was a first attempt..Shukran for the appreciation! :)

9/11 was an excuse to start wars on Iraq, Iran as well as Pakistan... They say they've killed Usama but its clear to anyone with eyes they haven't... and even so, who said Usama's to blame except them? what proof do they have? and how the frikkin hell can an insurgent or whatever in Afghanistan get two effin planes??!!

Our leaders... okay, I guess I won't even start there, I've said enough already.......

I was watching that program just now and another sign was mentioned:

Three sinkings of the earth
      • one in the east
      • One in the west
      • and One in Arabia

Most ullma said that by east its probably in japan, in west probably America and in arabia its Makkah

I realized, Japan has already happened ---> the earthquake, we all known about it, how the earth moved from its axis O_O
I researched about it and turns out many people think that it was the sign

By the way this program was done few years back so its not like the host just made it up and said japan

Post by: Shoshou..Mony on July 17, 2011, 03:14:57 am
(http://gallery.sendbad.net/data/media/30/Nature-wallpaper-98.jpg)

What creates ill feelings in the hearts of people for each other the most is the misuse of the tongue and the evil consequences that follow. This includes the hastiness on behalf of some to comment on someone’s words as he speaks, or interrupting him without thinking twice, which only results in hostile argumentation and people harbouring ill feelings towards each other.

You will never be able to rectify all the people, teach them Islamic etiquettes, and train them in the skills of dealing with people. Let us go beyond the idealism which many become obsessed with when they say, “People are supposed to do this”, or “People are supposed to get used to that...”

Stop thinking about this and just pray over the deceased who is in front of you, as they say. What I mean is that when we deal with people’s mistakes, we should not busy ourselves thinking about what others should do, but rather, we should focus on what we should do. Whenever you wish to say something strange, some people may hastily comment on your words. It is important that you do not give them an opportunity to do so, by
answering their questions before they even ask.

Some people can very effectively prevent a person from commenting without them realising it. I remember once an old man was sitting in a gathering talking about a particular incident he witnessed where two people were fighting at a petrol station, and how it became so serious that both taken to a police station. One of those present in the gathering, who was known to be very talkative, jumped up and began to relate his version of
the story, saying, “Yes, that’s right, but this is not what happened. What actually happened between the two was this, and so-andso was at fault.” He began to mention other details that did not even occur!

The old man turned to him, and I could see that he was about to explode. However, he controlled himself and quietly and calmly said, “Were you there at the incident?” He said, “No.”
The old man said, “Did anyone who witnessed it tell you about it?” “No”, he replied.
The old man said, “Did you read the incident report?” He said, “No.”
Thereupon, the old man screamed, “OK! So how can you say I am wrong when you don’t know anything?”

What surprised me were his leading questions before he objected, for if he were to object before throwing those questions at him and thereby closing all the escape routes, the man would have found many avenues through which to flee, even if he had to lie.

Therefore, when we wish to establish certain facts, we need to precede them with preliminaries in order to convince our opponents before they get a chance to oppose them.

When the Quraysh marched forth to fight the Prophet pbuh and his companions at Badr, some of the intelligent ones among them did not wish to fight. However, they had been compelled to march. The Prophet pbuh found out about this and was sure that if they attended the battle, they would not fight the Muslims. When he approached the battlefield, he wanted to inform his Companions about his decision regarding them and forbid them from killing them. He knew that some may have question in their minds about his decision such as, “Why shouldn’t we kill them when they have come out to fight us? Why did he exempt these people in particular?”

The Prophet pbuh mentioned some preliminaries in order not to give them an opportunity to even think about the objections. How did he do so?
He stood among his Companions and said, “I have come to know that some men from Banu Hashim and others have been forced to come out. They do not want to fight us.”
This was the first preliminary fact. He then said, “Therefore, whoever of you meets anyone from Banu Hashim in the battle, then let him not kill him. Whoever sees Abu al-Bakhtari bin Hashim bin al-Harith bin Asad, then let him not kill him. Whoever sees al-‘Abbas bin ‘Abd al-Muttalib, the uncle of the Messenger of Allah, then let him not kill him, for they have been compelled to march.”

The Companions agreed to comply and began to discuss this amongst their circles. Abu Hudhayfa bin ‘Utbah bin Rabi’ah said, “Shall we kill our fathers, our sons and our brothers and spare al-‘Abbas? By Allah, if I see him on the battlefield, I will strike him with my sword!”
His words reached the Messenger of Allah pbuh. He turned to “Umar and said, ‘O Abu Hafs!” ‘Umar said about this later, “By Allah, this was the first time ever the Messenger of Allah pbuh gave me my nickname, Abu Hafs.”
The Prophet pbuh said, “O Abu Hafs! Will the face of the uncle of Allah’s Messenger be struck with a sword?”
‘Umar felt disgusted and angry, for how could Abu Hudhayfah have rejected the order of the Messenger of Allah pbuh? Was
he not a Muslim?
‘Umar said at the top his voice, “O Messenger of Allah! Allow me to strike his neck with my sword! By Allah, he has become a hypocrite!”

Abu Hudhayfah – may Allah be pleased with him – thereafter regretted his words on that day and said, “I do not feel secure from the words I uttered that day. I will continue to be terrified of them unless martyrdom expiates for them.” He was martyred on the day of Yamamah.

Advice...
Have them for lunch before they eat you for dinner!

Indeed if you control your tongue and speak good then paradise can be yours. The Prophet (saw) said "Whoever can guarantee me two things I can guarantee them Paradise." The companions asked "What O Messenger of Allah?" He replied "What is between his jaws (his tongue) and his legs (private parts)." (Bukhari)

I'll post the next one tonight inshAllah. =]

As always, Amazing lesson

You know there is a saying,
Five things never come back:
the spoken words, the wasted time, the past, the neglected opportunity, and friends' trust so think twice and act wise

We should always think before saying :)

In the book "Enjoy your life" I read a sentence i.e. "Only pass comment on what is good"
I think applying this can also protect our tongue from saying wrong

Thank you <33 +rep

Edit: Isnt this supposed to be Lesson 7?
Did I miss out something O_O

^ I'll make this my new FB status. :D

Only pass a comment on what is good, also there is a hadeeth that says its either you say good or you to stay quiet.

Thanks for reading it love and no this is lesson 8.

Lesson 7 is ummm in the Ramadan thread so this should be lesson 8!
I DID a mistake SORRY! Thanks for pointing it out. <3

Something related to this lesson:

In our childhood we bother our mother a lot, she stays awake the whole night just so that her child can sleep peacefully.
She remains hungry but cannot bear the fact if her kid remains hungry for even one moment.
Even when we ask her the same thing 100 times, she replies politely.

When we are a year old, she feeds us and keeps us neat and clean and we return her favor by keeping her awake and weeping all night.

When we turn to two, she grabs our finger and teaches us how to walk and in return we snap her hand and run away.

When we turn to three, she cooks our favourite food and in return we throw the plate on the floor.

When we turn to four, She brings us set of color pencils for drawing and we mark the walls of the houses from these colors.

When we turn to five, she wears us nice clothes and sends us outside to play and we make our clothes dirty with soil.

When we turn to six, she takes us to school and in return we yell and complain to her that we don’t want to go to school

When we turn seven, she brings us football to play with and we throw that to the neighbour’s house and bring her disrespect.

When we turn to eight, she brings us ice-cream; we throw that away and demand to buy another one.

When we turn to nine, she gives us basic book to learn from and we do not read it.

When we turn to ten, she takes us along to ceremonies and we embarrass her due to our actions.

When we turn to eleven, she takes us and our friends to outing and there among the friends we forget her presence.

When we turn to twelve, she orders us not to watch immortal programs and we wait for her to be away so when she is not around we watch our desired programs.

When we turn to thirteen, she asks us to cut our hair short and we reply her with it’s a fashion

When we turn to fourteen, she gives us all her savings so that we can fulfil our desire to go on trips or spend time with friends and when we are on a trip we do not even bother to give her a call.

When we turn to fifteen, she wants to spend time with us but we shut the door and lock ourselves in the room.

When we turn to sixteen, she buys us motorbike, on our demand, but when we ride it we tend to forget all her advices.

When we turn to seventeen, she wants us to spend some time with her and relatives but we prefer to spend time with our friends only.

When we turn to eighteen, she asks us to prepare for our exams but we sleep the whole night

When we turn to nineteen, she arranges the best tutor for us but we do not give time to our studies

When we turn to twenty, she advice us to keep good company and in return we tell her to mind her own business

When we turn to twenty-one, she gives us suggestions for our future and we reply her that I do not want to be what you want me to be.

When we turn to twenty-two, she hugs us on completing our graduation and we demand an expensive gift from her

When we turn to twenty-three, she decorates our room with new furniture, and we tell her that my friends say it’s a cheap choice.

When we turn to twenty-four, she set out our engagement but we get stubborn on our choice.

When we turn to twenty-five, she makes arrangement for our wedding and says don’t forget me after you are married but soon after marriage we get involved in our new life

When we turn to thirty, she shows her desire for grand kids and we reply to her that time has changed it’s the age of family planning.

When we turn to forty, she shows her desire to go to relatives' ceremony with us and we tell her that I don’t have time

When we turn to fifty, she gets ill and needs us and we say that she has become a burden

And one day this estimable creature, our mother, passes away and then we realize that we lost a precious personality but then it’s too late.

Isn’t it painful that the person who bore us and nurture us inspite of difficulties, we don’t have time for that mother.
In today’s hustle bustle we have forgotten the most sincere and valued creature of the universe.

In a hadees Prophet (pbuh) has mentioned:
“The heaven lies under the feet of mother”

I wanted to share this:

~Turning a flaw into a feature: The Cracked Pot, an Uplifting Story

Once upon a time there was a water-bearer in India who had two large pots, each hung on each end of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, and while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master's house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pot full of water in his master's house.

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to the end for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water-bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you." "Why?" asked the bearer.

"What are you ashamed of ?"

"I have been able, for these past two years, to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your master's house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work and you don't get full value from your efforts, " the pot said. The water-bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion he said, "As we return to the master's house, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path."

Indeed, as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path, and this cheered it some.

But at the end of the trail, it still felt bad because it had leaked out half its load, and so again it apologized to the bearer for its failure.

The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of your path, but not on the other pot's side?

That's because have always known about your flaw, and I took advantage of it. I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back from the stream, you've watered them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my master's table. Without you being just the way you are, he would not have this beauty to grace his house."

The moral of this story: Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and warding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them."

I used to be embarrassed when I became 10-16 of hugs. I always loved hugs but I would feel shy to hug my dad and mom. Now...I just do it. At first they would ask me the reason surprisingly and I would just answer 'No reason, I just love you'. They would smile...until now it became a habit and they always wait for my hugs and kisses daily. :D

It feels really good..it feel awesome in fact. Giving our love to the parents who raised us up and made us stand on our own feet.

Kid : I wish I could grow up.
Young Man : Wish I could be a kid again and the toy is my only concern in life.
Old Man : If only the old days come back when I was a young man...

Single : When will I ever get married and find my partner?
Married : Where are the days when I was single and free?

Rich : If I could stop worrying about all of this money
Poor : If I could be rich and only worry about money

The living : If only I could die and rest from this world
The dead : Please God, get me back to life..I'll do good deeds.

Tall : If I could just be a bit shorter?
Short : If I could just be a little taller?

Obese : If I could just lose some weight...
Skinny : If I could just be a bit fatter...

Fair : If I could be a bit tanned
Black : If I could just be white...

Student : I wish I never go to school or have any homework
Illiterate : If I could just go to school like normal kids...

Excuse me HUMAN beings when will you ever be satisfied?

Allah also said in the Quran:

“‘If you are grateful, I will surely give you more and more” (14th Surah, verse)

"Be content with what Allah has given you, and you will be the richest of people."

"When we complain, we remain. When we whine, we stay behind. When we praise, we raise. =]"

Prophet Muhammed(pbuh) said, "Look at the people who are below you and do not look at the people who are above you, so that you do not be greedy or ungrateful of Allah Blessings."

Gratitude >> Satisfaction >> Happiness

Very true!! Thanks Mony! :)

be happy with what you got....

I personally think people should go to hospitals and such just to see the plight of hundreds of those who aren't even blessed with physical well-being enough to walk on their own, or see, or eat anything........
Everywhere we look, we can find those less fortunate than us, so never forget to be grateful to Allah...
If you attempt to count Allah's blessings, you cannot, even if you live to be a thousand...

Aw, that's sweet. <3 But still, I've not done anything great yet.  ;)
I'm planning to do the things I want to do before I leave Mother Earth, and Father Time takes me away. :D :)

Thank you. <3 +repped you too. They were very good lessons. I think you should make a sticky thread and paste them all in one, like a booklet on SF. They'll help many, am sure. :)

I miss debates too. :( I know if I post, it'll get stretched and will end up spending much time there... Once am back, I'll revive it to the fullest I can. Though, others can still post. Maybe I can direct a lil bit instead of literally debating.  :-\

I participated, in the debates at school, but more for elocution contests. My prizes remained at school, the school takes them if you participate using its name.
But anyway, the real debates will be the ones that will really make a difference to the lives of people. But before that, I gotta set some order in my own life. :)

True, We actually do complain a lot  ::)

We usually ignore the good side and focus on the bad one that's why instead of being thankful to Allah for what he has given us we keep asking and complaining for more.

Thank you for sharing :)

~ The Blessings of Gratitude and Shukr ~
(http://withfriendship.com/images/i/44524/together-alhamdulillah.jpg)

Gratitude (shukr) is about expressing thanks and appreciation to those who do any favor to us. Obviously, none can come close to our creator, Allah, who gave us everything. As the Quran states: “Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion” [Infitar 82:7]. As humans, Allah has bestowed on us the nature to be grateful and we should thus express that gratitude not just to Allah but to the people whom we deal with as well. In many places in the Quran, Allah divides people as being grateful and as ungrateful to motivate us to join the camp of those who are grateful. In one of such verses, Prophet Sulaiman said, as stated in the Quran, “. . . then when (Sulaiman (Solomon)) saw it placed before him, he said: "This is by the Grace of my Lord to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful! And whoever is grateful, truly, his gratitude is for (the good of) his own self, and whoever is ungrateful, (he is ungrateful only for the loss of his own self). Certainly! My Lord is Rich (Free of all wants), Bountiful" [An-Naml: 40]

Having a sense of gratitude is thus a great blessing and those of us who instill that sense within themselves not only seek Allah’s pleasure but embody a sense of happiness, relieving us of the many pressures and anxieties. Although the blessings and benefits of gratitude are many, this post highlights certain important ones that you should recognize and use as a means to motivate that sense within yourselves.

*Gratitude is knowing that whatever we have is from Allah. Gratitude helps us focus our minds on Allah, something that has unfortunately become so difficult today on account of life’s distractions and attractions. Gratitude, therefore, corrects our perceptions by reminding us that everything that happens to us doesn’t happen because of its own volition and thus we shouldn’t take matters for “granted”. Allah says in the Quran: “And whatever of blessings and good things you have, it is from Allah” [al-Nahl 16:53]. He also says, “And He found you poor and made you rich (self?sufficient with self?contentment)” [al-Duha 93:8]. Let’s therefore constantly remind ourselves of Allah’s bounties by expressing our gratitude to Him in prayers and at other times.

*Gratitude helps in warding off punishment from Allah. Not recognizing Allah’s blessings can prevent us from gaining His pleasure. We know that if Allah were to punish us for our negligence, He would be justified for it. He says in the Quran: “If Allah took mankind to task by that which they deserve, He would not leave a living creature on the surface of the earth; but He grants them reprieve unto an appointed term, and when their term comes – then verily Allah is Ever All-Seer of His slaves” [Fatir (35):45]. At the same time though, Allah provides us a way to escape that punishment by being thankful to Him. He says, “Why should Allah punish you if you have thanked (Him) and have believed in Him. And Allah is Ever All-Appreciative (of good), All-Knowing” [(An-Nisa, Verse #147)]. Gratitude, therefore, is not an option and we should clean our hearts to thank Allah for everything that He has provided us.

*Gratitude helps us to slow down and to enjoy what we have rather than always waiting for the next wish to come true. Gratitude can help us recognize that we already have enough of what many people have for long been yearning for. We must therefore tame our Nafs to understand that if we can’t find happiness in the blessings that we have today, then we won’t be happy with what we get tomorrow. You see, gratitude is a sense of fulfillment that comes not from wanting more but rather from a sense of knowing that Allah has already blessed us with what we need. In one of the hadiths the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “…if the son of Adam has one valley, he will wish that he had a second, and if he had two valleys, he would wish that he had a third. The stomach of the son of Adam will be filled only with dust (i.e., he is never satisfied)…” (Reported by Ahmad, 5/219; Saheeh al-Jaami’, 1781). So, let’s use gratitude to learn to enjoy what we have rather than fretting over what we don’t.

*Gratitude sought by exercising patience against unlawful desires prevents us from harmful consequences later. This was very aptly addressed by Ibn Qayyim, who stated that “Patience in resisting desires is easier than patience in dealing with the consequences that result from going along with desires, because it either leads to pain and punishment or it prevents a more complete pleasure, . . . or it deprives one of a blessing, having which is more pleasurable and better than fulfilling desires, . . . or it cuts off an oncoming blessing, or it has a negative impact on one’s character that will remain, because deeds have a great impact on one’s character and behavior.” [Al-Fawaa’id (p. 139)]

*Gratitude trains our minds to focus on the right things in life. It’s akin to walking in a room filled with various colored items and focusing only on items of a specific color. If you do so, your mind will be able to easily mask the other colors as you focus on items of that specific color. Our life is no different. When we let our minds look for problems, we see plenty of them. Instead, if we rather look away from problems and focus on possibilities and go for solutions, we will get those too. Let’s, therefore, use gratitude to motivate ourselves to find possibilities and solutions and not the negatives associated with problems.

*Gratitude helps us recognize other people’s favors to us. The Prophet through his sayings made it quite clear that expressing our gratitude to Allah by thanking Him also involves that we thank people who do favors for us. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said as narrated by Abu Hurairah: “He who does not thank people, does not thank Allah” (Ahmad, Tirmidhi). He also said: “Whoever does you a favor, then reciprocate, and if you cannot find anything with which to reciprocate, then pray for him until you think that you have reciprocated him”  Abu Dawood (1672). In another hadith, he said: “Whoever has a favor done for him and says to the one who did it, ‘Jazak Allahu khayran,’ has done enough to thank him” [Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi]. Let’s therefore ensure that we do our part to sincerely thank our families and those who have done good to us.

*Gratitude isn’t about ignoring our problems. On the contrary, gratitude helps us to be patient, accepting of life’s trials, and accordingly trains us to seek personal fulfillment with less. Gratitude thus makes us “low maintenance” in our demands and expectations. This trait reduces our burden on those around us, making our company more pleasing to others instead of leaving us always unhappy, more demanding, and impossible to please because of unending requirements.

*Gratitude is going beyond words and instead thanking through our actions. We see this in the example of the prophet whose sins were forgiven by Allah although he continued to strive for His pleasure. It was narrated that Aa’ishah said: “When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prayed, he would stand for so long that his feet would become swollen. ‘Aa’ishah said: O Messenger of Allah, are you doing this when Allah has forgiven your past and future sins? He said: “O ‘Aa’ishah, should I not be a thankful slave?” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (4557) and Muslim (2820). Let’s, therefore, pray the extra nawafil as one way to thank Allah for His blessings.

*Gratitude helps increase one’s blessings. Allah says: “And (remember) when your Lord proclaimed: ‘If you give thanks (by accepting Faith and worshipping none but Allah), I will give you more (of My Blessings); but if you are thankless, verily, My punishment is indeed severe’” [Ibraaheem 14:7] Let’s, therefore, make thanking Allah part of morning and evening remembrances (adhkars) to get more of Allah’s blessings in our lives.

*Gratitude helps us to get the pleasure of Allah in the hereafter when in Paradise we express our gratitude to Allah for His blessings to enter us into paradise. Abul-Abbaas al-Qurtubi said: “. . . gratitude for blessings – even if they are few – is a means of attaining the pleasure of Allah, may He be exalted, which is the noblest situation of the people of Paradise. When the people of Paradise say, “You (Allah) have given to us what You have not given to anyone among Your creation,” Allah will say to them: “Shall I not give you something better than that?” They will say, “What is it? Have You not brightened our faces, and admitted us to Paradise and saved us from Hell?” Allah will say, “I bestow My pleasure upon you, and I will never be angry with you after that.” [Al-Mufhim lima ashkala min Talkhees Kitaab Muslim (7/60, 61)]. What better reward can we expect? So, why not be grateful to Him for what He has provided us day and night?

~Conclusion

Gratitude’s importance was emphasized by the Prophet when he took the hand of Mu’aadh ibn Jabal and said: “O Mu’aadh, by Allah I love you, by Allah I love you.” Then he said, “I advise you, O Mu’aadh, do not fail to say this after every prayer: O Allah help me to remember You, to thank You and to worship You properly.” The Arabic version of this Hadith is the following. Let’s ensure that we memorize it and recite it after every prayer.

Allahumma A’inni Ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni ibadatika

Finally, remember that being grateful is not an option and being one brings us closer to those whom we thank and appreciate.

I found this story about 'A Clever King', gives us good insight on how to live our lives.

There was a country long time ago where the people would change a king every year. The person who would become the king had to agree to a contract that he will be sent to an island after his one year of being a king. So, one king finished his term and it was time for him to go to the island and live there. The people dressed him up in expensive clothes and put him on an elephant and took him around the cities to say goodbye to all the people. This was the moment of sadness for all the kings who ruled for one year. After saying goodbye, the people took the king with a boat to the remote island and left him there. On their way back, they discovered a ship that had sunk just recently. They saw a young man who survived by holding on to a floating piece of wood. As they needed a new king, they picked up the young man and took him to their country. They requested him to be a king for a year. First he refused but later he agreed to be a king. People told him about all the rules and regulations and that how he will be sent to an island after one year.

After three days of being a king, he asked the ministers if they could show him the island where all the other kings were sent. They agreed and took him to the island. The island was covered with thick jungles and sound of vicious animals were heard coming out of them. The king went little bit inside to see how it was and discovered the dead bodies of all the past kings. He understood that as soon as they were left in the island, the animals came and killed them.

The king then went back to the country and requested the people to provide him with 100 strong workers. He was provided with 100 workers and he took them to the island and told them to remove all the deadly animals and to cut down all the trees. He would visit the island every month to see how the work is progressing.

In the first month, all the animals were removed and many trees were cut down. In the second month, the whole island was cleaned out. The king then told the workers to plant gardens in various parts of the island. He also took with himself useful animals like chickens, ducks, birds, goats, cows etc. In the third month, he ordered the workers to build big houses and docking stations for ships. Over the months, the island turned into a beautiful place. The young king would wear simple clothes and spend very little from his earnings. He sent all the earnings to the island for storage. Nine months have passed like this. The king called the people and told them that "I know that I have to go the island after one year, but I would like to go there right now." But the people didn't agree to this and said that he have to wait for another 3 months to complete the year.

3 months passed and now it was a full year. The people dressed up the young king and put him on an elephant to take him around the country to say goodbye to others. However, this king is unusually happy to leave the kingdom. People asked him, "All the other kings would cry at this moment and why are you laughing?" He replied, "Don't you know what the wise people say? They say that when you came to this world as a baby, you were crying and everyone was smiling. Live such a life that when you are dieing, you will be smiling and everyone around you will be crying. I have lived that life. While all the other kings were lost into the luxuries of the kingdom, I always thought about the future and planned for it. I turned the deadly island into a beautiful abode for me where I can stay peacefullly."

We should take a lesson from this story about how we should also live our life. The life of this world is to prepare for the life hereafter. In this life, we shouldn't get lost into the beautiful things of this world and forget about what is to come in the afterlife. Rather, even if we are kings, we should live a simple life like our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and save all our enjoyments for the hereafter. May Allah make it easy for us all. ;D

May Allah make it easy for us all. ;D
