But in the end, philosophy is all talk and no action.  ;D

No action caused the discovery of science.

No action caused the discovery of science.

That's where the difference lies, mate. :)

Philosophy is just pure thought. Science decided to deviate from it by including some action.

Cuz humans are chained by the sense of perfection. They will never be free.

Mate, you say animals are not free ? ::) I sense that the only animals you have seen lived in the zoo.

Words as well cannot. Actions do.

But in the end, philosophy is all talk and no action.  ;D

Brain-threatening animals are not left scot-free.  ::)

Philosophy is all talk with much more than simple actions.

Philosophy is essentially thought. And to answer the questions it posed, science was created.

So yes, Philosophy is more of a guide for scientific development.

Your definition of freedom is off the mark.

You must try spending a night at the jungle. ;D You'll see what freedom means. ::)

Care to provide an example will you? ::)

Nope dude. Now if you see it, you won't find the smallest link between science and philosophy.
Science and philosophy had a divorce. It all basically ended in the age of Bertrand Russell.

The way I see it, Science has changed by a lot since the 1850s.I assume Philosophy has decided rather to stay with the linguistics department.

Actions matter damn if you do not understand them.

Actions occur as a result of presence of mind. Mind and matter are inversely proportional to each other.
In the end,if you don't have a mind, it doesn't matter does it ?

I always knew I would regret underestimating you. And now I am.

Aright, yes Philosophy asks a few questions, especially on the basis on emotion and the reality of the universe.

Often you might see, that science, talks about entropy, the idea of dimensions.

These originated from Philosophy itself. Religion, science, and social structure and culture are intertwined with it.

Although yes, you might think, that it was a parting of ways, you do not deny that science is in-fact a creation of Philosophy.

And in doing so, you do not deny its importance.

The thirst for answers is essentially the ideal behind the philosophy itself.

Although you might find it pointless and much talk, it is talk that has existed for thousands of years, the same questions, the same reasons to explore.

You see Philosophy asks the deeper and more profound questions, basing its anvil on logic, and like every other human creation, it is flawed.

But lets talk about science, about the quest for a better life. Does it not create problems, the influx of carbon in the atmosphere etc, power.

Philosophy does not tend to bring in any of this.

You might argue, that it is because it does nothing, I will argue, that it choses not to, because it will make the same mistake science did.

I did not change language suddenly alpha. You thought so. You believed so.

And if you call my words complicated, you should see yours complicating every little useless issue. An example would be in the "how come" thread; when engraved asked you about why humans couldn't lick their elbows. You went like pride is greater than shame. Now tell me does that make sense? Tell me who's complicating things? It's supposed to be a fun thread, but you went philosophical.

And by quotes I mean improvised words; either mentioned by you or other philosophers.

After all, I guess I'm mistaken. It's your life; live it your way.

You wrote much. But in the end.
The way I see it, philosophy is afraid of change. It is afraid of failure, so in the end it does nothing

But look at science. Its actions speak louder than the words of philosophy.
And yes, mistakes occur. But What are we gonna do about it? The only way you cannot commit mistakes is by doing nothing. And philosophy does that the best.

At least science is not being a coward. It decided to change by doing some action and not worrying about the mistakes.
You think philosophy is science. Then you must think that nothing = something. And by law, that thinking is flawed.

You might argue, that it is because it does nothing, I will argue, that it choses not to, because it will make the same mistake science did.

So if it does nothing , what's the point of having it? ::)

Or are they parts of a whole?

Nope, mind is what perceives. And I assume it doesn't perceive the matter correctly.

I hate how this goes all philosophical =/
"...And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allah, then He will suffice him." [65: 2-3]

In real life, I hate philosophical people. I've met many of them and some of my cousins are very philosophical. Philosophical people are not pleasant at all.  They are excessively proud of themselves.

Particularly, they say things like below:

"You have to work hard to get money."
"Money must be earned the hard way."
"You don't get something for nothing."
"Money is hard to come by."
"Money is hard to save."
"There is never enough money."
"Money is root of all evil."
"Rich people are greedy."
"I'll be happy when I get some money."
And millions of other excuses about EVERYTHING. Making Alibis is their favorite job, I'm sorry to say.

I laugh at them when I hear them mingling with every meaningless things and creating a mole out of a hill on little issues. They are still living in the 'bad old days'.

They are VERY pessimistic according to my experience in real life and online. Plain pessimistic. I'm sure, not only me, everyone here doesn't like pessimistic people, unless he/she is pessimistic himself/herself. Anyway, "Birds of a feather flock together".

The only pleasant 'philosophical' people I've ever met in my whole life is Alpha, online. She's balanced between materialism and philosophy, though she may appear philosophical at times. She doesn't have the extra 'pride' that philosophical people have and demnostrate.

All of my friends are materialistic, friendly, pleasant and not completely 'honest'. And I'm very thankful to God for that.
