Are we The World?
« on: May 28, 2010, 07:18:00 am »
So, do you think everybody must help together and come as one?

Especially when there is a ferocious competition for world resources out there? When there are some citizens dying in wars? When terrorists are fighting to throw governments upside down?

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a better day
So Let's start giving
Theres a choice were making
Were saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day just you and me!

In reality, you and me can't make anything better, it's just a song! :(

I won't call you a pessimist. You were absolutely realistic. It's a song... And the whole world will never come together as one-- too Utopian.

But still... We can not conclude before giving it a try.

Then, how can we make the change?

I think the making of this song has been one resolution. Well, before people start giving (as the song asks us to), they'll first check the bank balance of those singers.  :P
The one who is showing the way must have gone through it first.  ;)

Peace and harmony are beautiful concepts.

But that's just what they are; concepts that will never take shape.

Where there is light there will be darkness.

Where there is love there will be hatred.

Where there is Peace there will be war.

You can never have one or the other; our world is built on opposites and that is how it will remain for all eternity.

Change is possible. How can we bring about the change is the question? I don't really have an answer to that  :-\

Ah I often find this construction...  :P Why not?

Where there is darkness, there is light?
Where there is hatred, there is love?
Where there is war, there will be peace?

Liked this part: Our world is built on opposites.  :)
So, if we can be apart, we can also be together? Is it not?

Aw Nid. If everybody says that, then who is going to take the step?

Then propose... Does not matter whether it's a good or bad solution. Making the step matters.  :) Propose.

It will never happen. The human race does not believe in amalgamation into one. We will always have our differences, our own opinions of others and we will always hold our own stereotypes.

This world has boundaries between countries, why ? To keep those whom we dislike out.

We will never achieve true harmony - it is like I said : a concept

Never?

It's true what you said. NOW, it's true.

Maybe will lose validity when the world is on the verge of breaking down. THEN will mankind become one. One for all.
Well, always too late-- that's our nature.

Hope this time it's not.  :)

Ahh yes, Utopia, the quest on which mankind has been for centuries. You see this is how we are created, we are created to love, and hate. To care and destroy. People that we regard as vile, may be regarded as someone vitally important to en entire nation.

You see, in order to gain utopia, everyone has to be happy. Pretty much. So, we need to look into what brings happiness.

For some its a simple as chocolate to others it is as complex as supremacy.

The law of the world currently is that of supremacy. You see, people want to be the best, and they want to keep it that way. People want to distinct themselves, from others.

But if that is true, not everyone can be made happy, for in order to be better than another person, that person has to be lesser, and less happy.

Thus a spiral forms, a black hole if you like. Because there will always be those who strive to be the best. And that means competition.

Now competition can be both constructive and destructive, i.e. both friendly and feral. Now the feral form of competition is rather predominant as for friendly rivalry to exist, friends must value their friendship more than their supremacy.

It is a very complex process, and in my honest point of view, utopia is impossible without the destruction of certain human emotions.

If you want to change everything, start with your government.

If you want to change everything, start with your government.

Thats the worst place to start. Because corruption in the government is a manifestation of every other bad element.

You seem to truly despise the government as an entity.

But only in some circumstances.

Instead of 100 businesses competing against one another, if they merged to form 10, given synergy, they would be able to achieve even higher profits and prosperity. R&D will help people and society too. Collusion will lead to even higher profits. In theory, it seems to be perfect.

BUT, it diminishes personal identity and achievement. Like Microsoft invented windows, and Bill gates became a billionaire for that. If they were all together (All software companies), I wouldn't think we would hear "Microsoft"  or "Bill gates". In this way, there would be too many conflicts of interests among different people. Because, we all strive for personal achievement.
