As i said in one of my topics earlier that the threshold required for grade A* will be set as many marks above grade A threshold as the grade B threshold is below the grade A threshold. If statistical evidence suggests, they would lower it but never raise it! The grade A* threshold will then be mapped on to a uniform mark of 90%.


Note: Only the statement of result will show the uniform percentage. And if a student achieves a uniform mark of 100% it will not be the same as getting full marks across all papers. Similarly, a Uniform mark of 90% does not indicate that the student actually achieved say 90% marks out of 300. They will obviously depend on the thresholds, which in the present case will be decided in July.

A* is not awarded for A2 the highest grade in A2 is an A
then when the AL is graded as a whole then there will be an A*

Guys if u want to know more about the system in depth
you guys will have to learn how the uniform mark scale works
only then will u understand how grades are awarded..
and By the way there was misconception that there would be no curve
firstly there will be a curve because if there aint a curve then it will be too economically and statistically difficult for the examiners to give a percentage on ur statement of results
secondly the thresholds are given of freeexampapers so check em out
there is also a link on fb about the cie where ppl have asked questions similarly...
the grading system hasnt changed for A levels and Cambridge IGCSE but ppl in A levels can get A* now.

Hey...i gave accelerated maths this year, june 2010...i calculated my score to be 71 in p1, 42 in s1 , 46 in m1 but i messed up in p3...i think i'll get 55...is it possible that i get an overall A*

But on ask.cie.org.uk, they still mention that the threshold will still be available. If the paper harder than last year, they threshold will be lower, otherwise it will be higher.

ofcourse u will get an A* if u get the expected marks mentioned by u. dont care abt m1 and s1. ur scores in p1 and p3 should be high to get A*
