These are grade thresholds, the maximum and minimum marks for your grades. In IGCSE they're typically low (like 40/80 in a paper 3 science paper gets you an A).

Grade thresholds depend on the difficulty of the papers which leads to the performance of the candidates ALL OVER THE WORLD!

if 40/80 gets u an A...how much would u mite need for an A*...?


and By the way...?

did the curve get cancelled this year?

alirght! Thanks for the info... :) --> i atually knew about the grade threshhold stuff but was confused about what a curve is !!  ;)

dude.. A*depends on the total no. of papers u attempt and how much u achive - for eg , if u get an A in english paper 3 and an A in paper 2 ..  so u totally get an A*

and yeh.. i don't really knw wether the curves have been canceled  or not? :S

I know for a fact that in English only the top 3% of marks get an A*

guys my sch0ol confirmd dat dey will b no more curves this yr...they said that its a new decade so they're changing it...its so nt fair for us!!! my principle wuz like dey wuld take da highest mark n if lets say da highest mark is a 70% den dey culd add 25 to peoples mark...bt if u think about it sum poeple wuld actually get 96 98 or even 100...so definitely dey wont add...freakin!! i lost my motivation for thiss!

My school also confirmed from an email of CIE that there shall be no more curve. But there are still some people out there saying curve still exists.

Let's just drop this discussion, shall we? Work hard & study hard & do a lot of past papers & you'll get A*. Don't depend too much on curve. Just think that it doesn't exist otherwise, you'll hope that curve will help you. Just try your best in the exams and by August 12th, everything will be clear. ;)

no guys the curves still there i guess i asked many teachers examiners or not all same answer curve still there or if it isnt thn no A* for any one ??? ???

All i know is that AS/A level have an A*( it had been declared on the website) there has been nothing said on the CIE website about the Curve or thershold and i will believe it once i see it there.

So you guys stop worrying about the curve and worry about what you going to do with the good marks ya'll gonna get ;)
