question is there is curve or no? and if there will be ?what grade u can get in english to get A or A*

Nobody knows for sure if the curve still exists. My school has confirmed CIE has dropped the curve, some still said yes. Just wait till August 12th. For English First Language, the grade for A or A* will be determined as soon as the examiners finish marking all our papers since the grade boundary varies every year.

It's pointless to argue now whether curve exists. Please don't depend too much on it. Just study hard and do lots of past papers, you can guarantee yourself at least an A ;)

All i know is that AS/A level have an A*( it had been declared on the website) there has been nothing said on the CIE website about the Curve or thershold and i will believe it once i see it there.

So you guys stop worrying about the curve and worry about what you going to do with the good marks ya'll gonna get ;)
yeh , actually I fully agree wid u ! ^_^
we should just go with wt the CIE website declares !!  :-\

This was from the CIE FAQ

Will Grade A* be published for Cambridge
International AS Level?
No. The UK Government is not introducing Grade
A* for UK AS Level, and Grade A* is not being
introduced for Cambridge International AS Level either.

I don't know where you get your information from.

This is what they have on the CIE website, can somebody please explain it in simpler terms ? Is that the same as the curve or does it mean that for example the highest mark was 95, 90% of that is an A*, 80% is an A etc... ?
Thank you.

It's just the basic grading, all of your papers out of 100.

I think that pretty much resolves the doubt of the curve's existence. :)
"The percentage uniform mark will be stated at syllabus level only.
The percentage uniform mark is not the same as the actual mark that the candidate obtains on the question paper, since it depends on the position of the grade thresholds (which may vary from one session to another and from one subject to another) and it has been converted into a percentage. The percentage uniform mark will always be calculated out of 100."

thats not considered a curve, there is a big difference between both. solve 2 papers carelessly, ull get A in one paper and C/D in the other, A in the one with the curve while C/D in the UMS one,
