You need to really be objective and do your best not to take things personally, or you may have a case of this ...negative fever before the day is done, because others are likely to go out of their way to explain why they are in such a negative space. In any financial matters, especially those concerning joint finances, you must keep a cool head, because it looks like an argument may be waiting to happen.
