An online system is one in which info is available to all users at their own computers in teh network. All the info is stored on the central computer called a server. Example: Electronic Point of Sale

airline is real time processing...this is bcz in real time the input, process and output are carried quickly enough to influence or control the source of the input data.(airline booking system affects worldwide)
Patient readings in ICU uses online processing(it does not affect worldwide)......It allows a computer device to be under the immediate control of the main computer.

This is the difference between online and real time processing.
this is what our teacher said about real time and online processing...

And just to be clear about robots,

all that is needed to know is how they have replaced manual human labour and their use in the manufacturing idnsutry..making human life easier,etc

Advantages of using them instead of humans is that we dont pay them, they stand conditions humans cannot,they are accurate and faster to use and they dont become lazy like human beings =\

you don't need to know about robots in particular. you need to know about A.I (artificial intelligence) and that it is an expert system.
