huh im suckin at math so much rite now....nyways guys could someone tell me how to solve Q.5, Q.7  Oct/Nov 2008 P2...

IN Q.7 could somebody tell me the bounds im supposed to take?? im taking 6.15 and 8.15 but not gettin the answer according to the mark scheme??

Q.5
just imagine that you are rotating the square from the point B 90*clockwise and where will you get D?
D will be on the same line with B
so wot you have to do it take the length of DC
and with a compass, from point B, draw a quater of a circle until the point where you get D after you rotate it

Q7.
yes, the upper bounds are 6.15 and 8.15
you just multiply them

find the volume of the glass using the cylinder formula

it will be 1385.4

divide it by 216.u get 6.4...

take 6 as a scale factor
and multiply
3X6=18 radius

7X6=42 height/..

thats what i did:S dunno if it is right tho!!!

yes thats correct, i've explained on a pic

i've solved part b too, it's under a)
so from a), we got y=2x-4
and in b) we know that y=0
so we find x
i underlined the answer in pink

no probz~ and yep the exam's 2morrow! dont worry, you'll do fine
the may/june exams are usually easier than the oct/nov ones
and if you've done enough past papers then you'll totally be fine!
maths is easy~ i'm more worried about the chem exam the day after

well~ GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!
