Its clearly shear .. y axis invariant line .. im a lil confused about factor .. i think its 0.5 .. check in the ms ..

how do you know about invariant line?

the image always moves perpendicular to the invariant .. here the image moves to the right if u turn the page 90o aticlockwise u can see the image has moved exactly upwards or perpendicular .. :)

im confused abt it too, i know its something parallel to x-axis or the x-axis...x-axis because the point parallel to it dont change in shape, or move...

@astar - answer this doubt, it can be anything parallel to x-axis rite? but if it is , v'll get different shear factors..plz help.

If someone tells me where I can find a question for invariant lines I will do a page on my website

exactly, you would get different shear factors

i think this is how you do it, BUT what if there was no x and y axis in the graph.

Yes it can be done in the matrix form.

And a graph doesn't exist without the axes. Cartesian plane, rather.

Damn, i feel very stressed. As the math exam come closer i keep making silly mistakes, cant focus on physics and im really worried :( i hope the curve is low.

I hope so. Well, i tend not to worry and stressed out as i always know there is a second chance if i really messed up but, i tend not to put second chance as an option because i just want to finish with it as soon as possible. But oh well, here's hoping everything goes smoothly. I guess i better focus on physics now since its after tomorrow.

i think its 1 because the point moves 4 points to the right frm its original place and is 3 points away frm the invariant line
