Hey Everyone =]
I know I'm asking TOO Many Questions these days ,I guess it's because SO Many things are going on in my Head and I make Duaa Istkara every now and then. I just hope you guys answer my dounts :D
For those of you who ALREADY chose their Careers or what they want to study in College then could you please let us know what were the Steps that led you to know what you want to do? I know some people doing IGCSE and they know what they want to Major in where as for me ,I'm a Senior who is Clueless about what he/she wants to be.
For those of you who know me well enough to Judge me (It'll prolly be few who do so) then please do Suggest some things for me since you already know me. My classmates think that 'my thing' is Engineering, I do like Physics but the Real Question is do I want to spend the REST of MY Life having a job that is ALL about Physics? and other things come to my mind and I just end up getting confused.
I really do need help and this isn't just for me, I'm sure there are a bunch of People out there who are just like me , confused like hell.
I hope my request is clear =]
Thanks in Advance ;)

I cant really give you the best advice but I am gonna try.
I totally understand how you feel cause I have been there. I felt exactly like you. I am gonna relate it to myself and try to give an answer.
First of all, think about what you like doing. I assume your parents aren't choosing for you or else you would have known your major already.
Okay so, For me I am a science person so i knew that I'll only go for something science related. Here, everything business related gets excluded.
Now the first few majors that come to the mind are medicine or eng. , I like chemistry more than physics so eng. wasnt an option for me.
After this, i thought about the science careers which are always in demand. I am sure while choosing career we are supposed to look for factors like salary, how in demand it is, what is the job like.
Once you have chosen an area you should also look for such things, see if eng. will provide you with the job you want to do. How is the work like, does it suit you? Are you okay with the salary?
With time, i am sure you will be able to come to a conclusion.
Don't stress about it, i remember sometimes I used to get so stressed out and depressed while i was on the internet searching for such things.
Also, dont think too much about future. I mean, think about now, what do you want to do now, forget about 20 years later. Like you said that "do I want to spend the REST of MY Life having a job that is ALL about Physics?", dont worry about it now. I know i might sound a bit stupid but really you dont need to worry about what is going to happen after 10 years. You can always change your mind.
There are people who start with something and then opt for something else later. I remember watching a video about a woman who did her major in bio, i guess, and then she didnt like the job she was doing so she decided to do medicine then.
I hope i was able to help.

I know >_<
Oh and you can also try talking to you parents? ask what they feel about it. They might suggest something which will prove helpful.
I never talked to my parents about it until the last minute and then i regretted it.
Best of luck! ;D

Ang3l presented an excellent response, quite similar with my idea.
Alright. Will try giving you the best advice I possibly can!
For me, I always adored and love SCIENCE. So, anything Science related was me. My brain even functions in a Science way as well. Alhamdulillah, my parents gave me the full liberty to choose my career as long as it's respectable. Did my research on fields related to Science: Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Biotechnology, Marine biologist, Physicist, Chemist and loads more buzzed up in my head. My two best options were: Medicine and Dentistry- according to standard, salary and the job itself.
It was a tough choice for me since I loved both fields very much.
I did Istikhara- no outcome from my side then I asked my Mum to do Salatul Istikhara then Dentistry was decided for me. Alhamdulillah. ;D
Talking about 20 years of Physics ? It ain't so bad.
Insha Allah, I myself will continue studying even after giving birth to 10 kids as long as I enjoy what I am studying. Hope you got my point, love. ;)
Trust me, you will find out the answer in the right time. Insha Allah. Do not stress yourself too much over it.
Do your research and come up with the best options you decide on then do Istikhara- best choice given to us by Allah (SWT).
Good luck, sister! :D

Romeesa-- after salatul istikhara, you don't really have to have a dream or something. Its like this-- after you do istikhara, if you don't have a good feeling about the choice you've made, you don't do it. If you do, as in, sometimes we don't even ''feel'' something, then well it means you can proceed. This is what I know. And yes, remember to make your faith firm about that after Istikhara, whatever happens will be GOOD for you. :). Think about it, you've asked Allah, and now, He is just SO never going to let anything bad happen to you. :)

I know that, sis! :D
I wasn't getting much so my Mom did it for me and she got the dream and after that ... my feelings were fixed. (:

That would be too late :) She's doing the right thing by planning ahead, her next stages of life depends on this decision.

This kind of a thing varies from person to person. I am the kind who'd need to think from before as to what I am gonna do next in order to get my work done properly..but I know lots of other people who are really spontaneous and can easily act on what they decide at that very mo. GG, imo, you should know what you want to. I mean there must be something you want to do, like for eg. the basic morale behind me choosing Medicals was cos I know helping others satisfies me. You should know what ultimately your aim is, how ultimately it is going to build you up and mix that idea with the subjects you'd need and are deeply interested in. :)

^ Jazaki Allah khair :)
Once I decide I'll share my story over here inshAllah =D

All the best in the future career! I'm sure that whatever you choose to do in the end, you'll do it well! :-* You'll figure out where your true passion lies, don't worry... I struggled for a while too before choosing to study medicine... :)
