Physics P6 May/June 2007
Q3 Part (b)(c) The answer is R is proportional to 1/d2 because when you double the diameter the resistance is decreased by 4 times. The diameter is inversely proportional to d (check the values of the resistance you calculated in the table and see whether the answer to wire AB is 4 times the answer to CD)

(2) Physics P6 October/November 2006
Q3 Part (b) (i)You should place 2 pins on the incident ray (GJ) and 2 pins on the reflected ray (GK). You have already found the position of pin A previously. Make sure that the gap between the pins on the same ray are atleast further apart than 5 cm (the theory to this complicated and you don't really need to know it).
(ii) You would view the bases because it is easiest to view if the pins are standing upright or not.

Hey guys,

I need help with the following questions

(1) Physics P6 May/June 2007

Q3 Part (b) and (c)

(2) Physics P6 October/November 2006
Q1 Part (c)
Q3 Part (b)

(3) Physics P6 May/June 2006

Q1 Part (d)
Q3 Part (a) Section (v) and (vi)
Q5 Part (a)

Thanks a lot for your help !!

(1) Physics P6 May/June 2007

Q3 Part (b) and (c)

R is proportional to 1/d2
When we times the diamter by 2 we divide the resistance by 22

Draw 2 lamps and a voltmeter all in paralell and an ammeter in series.

(2) Physics P6 October/November 2006
Q1 Part (c)
Q3 Part (b)
V=7.64 taking l as 4.
for the actual volume of the rods you have two guess what fraction is air. I guessed 10% then d=m/V=6.3/7.64=0.82g/cm3

Put the pins as far from each other as possible. Line your eye up with the base, since the pins may lean over.

I have to go and teach some maths now. Back in a few hours to answer the other question.

(4) Physics P6 October/November 2005

Q2 Part (a)
Difficult to do with a sketchb but draw the same diagram with a box on each connecting wire and another between A and D with a box.

(5) Physics P6 May/June 2005

Q3 Part (e)
r=0.95/0.375 FOR aB length 0.5m. If you triple the length to 1.5m you triple the resistance to 3(0.95/0.375)
