Advertising : Information or manipulation

<< < (3/3)

$tyli$h Executive:
Information. Its your own fault if you feel you were manipulated.

It enables businesses to thrive, ofc successful advertising. Advertising executives know too well that you make your decision on some hidden emotion. Its YOUR choice on whether to buy the product or not.

If I want to sell a house, I will feed my prospective buyer with all possible positive information about the luxuries and future value, and of course some exaggerations will be there too. Its his choice whether he wants to buy it, he will examine the house after all. I will do what is possible to serve my purpose. I have no fault in this. Its his fault if he is not satisfied with what he thought he will be in the first place, after he buys it.

There are laws governing advertisements. ALL ads mention everything important, they are bound by law. They will show the conditions often in fine prints in the add for this reason, for which people say they are manipulated. They do not check these conditions or are too lazy to.  How many times have you cared to read the fine prints in a shampoo ad or an insurance ad? Some lousy conservative people will say the law does not work. Then they are too short sighted to see the benefits. If you believe an ad is a fad, press charges on it. If you don't have the money to pay a lawyer, keep your big mouth shut before claiming you were manipulated.

Any two people who do business with each other have to manipulate to their own advantage.
THAT'S BUSINESS
You can manipulate a lot without actually telling a lie

"You can manipulate a lot without actually telling a lie"

Yes. That is the point which proves advertising is not a 'manipulation', since no lie, or false information is given though it appears so to the short sighted people. There is nothing wrong in doing this and is a legitimate business tactic.
