Yeah, strange how people live in what they read in books, and watch on screen.

gosh how would edward be unthinkable..and like a good no. of members here..i TOO HATE twilight..i find it totaly soppy and mushy and ew..
but unthinkable? unthinkable i thought more or less is abt sth new radical..whether right or wrong...edward is so totaly predictable..that whole story is so so predictable! *glad i never read any*
infact i dont think any of the novels would bring about anythin UNTHINKABLE...cz the writers are getin inspired from daily life and the ppl around them..so basicaly a novels a set of thoughts views concepts an author admires and presents in her own way.fr eg. harry potter..whoa...how awesome it is...its not the magical settin shes got fr her books..its the spirit...harry's fights...the fact that he never wanted to b that leader..o hero o whatever but he had to be...n then so many things he never asked fr which he got..all that is so normal...anyone would feel that way..when theyd have their parents killed..when theyd b called a lier althou their SO NOT that (in the 5th part)..how any normal person would feel after seein his own friend die in front of him like cedrics death!!

i agree. although hogwarts and wizards isnt the most realistic thing to write about, she makes it seem so. i love it because harry has weaknesses as do all the rest of the characters. they're so human.
DOWN WITH TWILIGHT!! DOOOOWWNN!!

As long as there is a demand for those novels (people are willing to buy it and have the money to), they should not be banned. Because banning them will mean big titles like Harry Potter and businesses to be bankrupt, which is simply not acceptable. As long as something has a perceived value in the eyes of people, it should go on. Some will consider it unethical or unrealistic, but thats what the people want. Its up to them if they want to purchase it or not. Take an example, FIFA world cup is unnecessary if viewed on a strict perspective. It does not help to eradicate poverty or tackle any serious issue. So, how many of you agree that it should be banned?

And pornographic websites and materials are alright, given that the website or DVD prints an age warning over it. After all, the reason behind this is defined already above, the perceived value of something. If it is legal in a country, why ban it and destroy potential? We even have debates on what should be considered pornographic! Some would say the image of a girl wearing a decent short skirt is pornographic (even models wearing short dresses!). And for others, only nude pictures are considered pornographic. But this is NOT to say that child pornography is okay.

Pornography of the past is not at all similar to that of the present.

Before it was violence, not it's outright crime.

You should research a bit more in renaissance era. In the beginning, meaning talking about the emergence of Bernini era women were still considered slaves. Kind of like Saudi Arabia of today.
So when Gian Bernini designed Ecstasy of St. Theresa ( a saint shown having a orgasm thinking it was by some angel) it was like making a bikini-clad woman in middle of Jeddah (saudi Arabia)
