Thanks! :)

Firstly, there is no doubt that smoking is harmful. I think smoking should be banned - yes. Because smoking not only affects the smoker, but also other people. If its done in public, other people who smoke the fumes are liable to be affected too, which is very unfair.

Also, children can learn smoking from people, which is very bad for their health in the future.

I am very much for it....but since you want a debate I will go against :P

Well, most adults choose to harm themselves even after the know the ill -effects of smoking. Also, people should just not go to places where smoking is allowed if they do not want to smoke passively.

Also, heavy smokers are not likely to give up since they're addicted to nicotine..Also, smoking tobacco is legal, and cannot be stopped. In fact smokers fund their health care with the heavy taxes they pay on tobacco.

Banning smoking in public places will make smokers want to smoke in enclosed areas which is more harmful for passive smokers.

We should analyse it through

1- economic
2- Consumer
3- Government
4-Environmental
Aspects.

Clearly banning smoking might result in unemployment in the cigarette industry?
Profit tax to the government or local board will become the opportunity cost..no?
What about the consumer.. Wouldn't he use illegal methods to smoke cigarette because the addiction is far to over-whelming for some consumers?

Yes unemplyment in the Tobacco industry. It's a chain...It will result in employment in the primary sector which includes the tobacco plantations to the secondary which included manufacture....so overall, it's a loss for the economy as a whole...People lose jobs, less production and less taxes.

And consumers will try to look for other ways to smoke...might choose to smoke at home with family around...children at such homes are at high risk of acquiring the habit and smoking passively.

Death or SMoke?

Survey has found..Men find death to be much more appealing.

Almost 51 percent in Los Angeles told the survey that death only encourages them to smoke  :P

Agreed. Guys who smoke in my class, well they say they don't care...smoking makes them feel relaxed and GOOOOD....so they might as well smoke their lungs to death.

Banning it in public areas won't really help chain smokers get over it.

Hahaha Kratos! Not all of them...some are adamant

My teacher knew a guy who died of cancer at the age of 30. At 26, he had mouth cancer, his tongue had to be cut and he couldn't speak then....He still smoked after that..-__-  He smoked till he died...Some just don't care  :-\

Then what? We're gonna have posters and banners telling: Smoking Area Only?  :P
