may june 2008 q2...
sub e^x=p to get p+p^=p^3 and subtract p+p^2 to get p^3-p^2-p=0
factorise p(p^2-p-1) now p=0 or solve the quadratic

to get -1/2 limit solve e^-x(1+2x)=0
1+2x=0 since exponentials are never 0 so x=-1/2
