Quick Physics Doubt
« on: May 09, 2010, 10:23:59 am »
What does the area under the Maxwell Boltzmann graph represent?

I say its the total Kinetic Energy of the gas.

Thanks in advance

Area under the curve corresponds to the total number of particles.

But how is that?

You multiply the Energy x the Number of molecules..You should get the total energy in the gas..right?

naah....

You multiply

the no.of molecules with a particular energy level X the energy....

check the ppt

I guess it depends on the graph given.

Thanks anyway.

It's the same graph. The y-axis represents the no of molecules with a particular energy

you're welcome
