Basically they're using percentiles
So yeah, it IS almost the same as the curve

When exactly can we start talking about the exam?

And does anyone know how many points paper 1 , 2, and 3 are?

Oh yes.
Paper 1 is out of 100 and it's worth 40% of your grade.
Paper 2 is out of 80 and it's worth 30% of your grade.
Paper 3 is out of 80 and it's worth 30% of your grade.

The mods, can we discuss about ICT theory exam now?

Paper 1 was out of 100, I calculated today during the exam as I got time to kill ... Let's just say that it is an exam which stretches students, but for those who has a good grasp of the concepts, the examination isn't really that hard ...

Just wondering, how can this exam stretch the students? I mean 2 hours are a lot and most people in my school finished it in less than an hour and everybody found it very easy.

Let's just say that the format of the questions that appeared on this paper did not adhere to the previously established pattern ... I personally did not find the paper to be too challenging, but some of my friends complained that there are some questions that are beyond the scope of study, which I found hard to agree with ...

Oh yes, the format of the questions has changed. In all the past papers, there used to be tons of system analysis & expert system & all that pros & cons of supermarkets, etc. I guess CIE has realised that their questions are too repetitive now and it's time for a change. :D They're sticking back to the basic & more realistic actually.

We may not wish to spill the beans as I believe candidates in other time zones still haven't sat the examination yet :d

Everything that came in the exam was in the syllabus, its not possible for it to be otherwise. Your friends probably didn't study very well...

Seriously people, WHEN can we start talking about it?!?!!?

Agree, can't wait but we don't want to get in troubles by breaking regulations so be patient until the mods give us an OK :D.

MODS, anyone? Can we start discussing now?

Yes, everything was in the syllabus. I think the problem with his friends and to a lot of people was that they assume the questions will be repetitive again so what they did was either solving past papers only or learn from the mark schemes, and did not revise any thing in the syllabus. Some people in my school did that as well.

Rather than using the endorsed textbook as a guide in revision, my friends have decided to read over the marking schemes to past examination papers instead ...

Wow, no wonder they didn't do very well...

People always forget that the questions aren't fixed, they can easily change...
