Hehe... I did much group work at school... Maybe I can help...
First, select a good team-- responsible, enthusiastic, willing to work and cooperate to the full. But yea, do remember that HOW the group works depends very much on the leader. Use the democratic style if possible, it has always worked! Find ways to keep your group motivated... Interested.... Satisfied... And WILLING to work with you.
And while recruiting people.... Important advice: Beware of braggarts...LOL
Many people talk a lot, without necessarily doing anything... Do not be emotional, be rational. Select on the basis of meritocracy. Give the opportunity to those who deserve it, not beg for it. And make sure that you know each and every member of your group. They must not necessarily be friends, you'll make friends along the way...
But they must be credible, responsible, and willing.
Identify WHY-- the purpose-- your prospective group members would want to join you, that'll help to decide later.
Just do not the silly mistake of favouring few members.... It is a demotivation....
And remember to treat them as YOU would like to be treated!
Well, the rest is up to you now!
Good Luck
