Medicine
« on: November 02, 2009, 04:28:07 am »
Hey guys
just wondered whether I was making the right decision for uni..
I'm doing IGCSE's right now and i'm hoping to get A* for all of them except English (my prelim marks were A* for all Chem, Bio, Physi, AS Maths but A for english XP)
and i'm going to do the same subjects for A level, but only do english to AS
is med the right choice? Cos I'm also thinking of Dentristry XP

oh and i'm thinking of uni in australia (esp Melbourne and Queensland)
I swear exams are going to be the end of me someday

u dont really need physics 4 medicine...n as fas as I know we're only allowed to take 3 a level subs and 1 as level right?? so basically chem is really imp for med..more than bio also...but its advisable 2 take bio as well..eng is kind of cumpolsory and as level eng is fine.. :)

I am entering medicine too. :)
I do not think you need to take english in As, iGCSE/O level is sufficient,,,
for As you need  biology and chemisty and another 2 subjects

I do not know much about Studing in Australia.. Can anyone tell us about education overthere (i.e. how are the schools and the people and climate )

Thanks

For Australia..

and
http://www.australia-university.com.au/undergraduate-study-australia.html should give you a general picture.

Admission procedures right here: http://www.infozee.com/australia/app-procedure-ug.htm

What courses are available in Aussie land? : http://www.uniguru.com/studyabroad/list-australia-undergraduate-degrees-courses/all9/programs.html

Use this, really handy: http://undergraduate.studylink.com.au/

I want to do medicine myself. I am still pondering where to go! (Hence, I haven't applied anywhere yet! :o) I also am interested in scholarships, etc as I don't have a stash of cash for university life; lol.

hey very similar case to me XD
altho ive already decided to go to melbourne university med lol
and @missbeautiful789? You HAAVVE to take AS English Literature to get into medicine. Actually, you can't get into ANY university without AS English, so I'm sorry to say that IGCSE english will not be sufficient enough to enter any university ><
altho i am talking about only the southern hemisphere, so i'm not sure what other places are like.. wot i said is true with all australian/newzealand schools.. :P in which case, where are you from?
I swear exams are going to be the end of me someday

id suggest you go for research rather than dentistry or medicine... it has a larger scope ahead.. im applying for both, but ill prefer going into research...
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is.
