sqrt(5^2 + (-12)^2 = sqrt(139) = 13

thus unit vector = \frac{5i - 12j}{13} = \frac{5i}{13} - \frac{12j}{13}

this is the original doubt i had!!
i tired it but i got ans as 1.3 sec wheas in proving it must be 1.8!!!

help!!
r(spacecraft)=12j+(40i+15j)t=r(nissile)=46i+(ki+30j)(t-0.5)
equating the i components 40t=46+k(t-0.5)
equating the j components 12+15t=30(t-0.5) from this 27=15t so t=1.8
the from the i component  equation 72=46+2.3k so k=20
