Actually, there's a debate about this 'festival', some Muslims do, others don't. Some claim there is nothing that states in the Qur'an we ought celebrate it. Don't wanna get into those religious arguments, I do because here, people all do. And I look weird, really weird, if I don't.

As far as I know, today, angels change the book of record we all have, the one on which our actions are written.
