Hey..may anyone please clarify why in November 2008 Qn c), the value of the ice melted is = 14.2??
The question makes it seem like 2.1 g of ice melted..

Also, qn 6b), they've inverted the equation to find the refractive index.. the 30 degrees angle is like the incident angle, however they've assumed it's the refractive angle. I'm not sure why, but is it because, if the angle we're trying to calculate, were to emerge into the glass, that's the angle it would form?

Help please  :(

u do it like this
n = sin i / sin r
1.49 = sin 30 / sin r
sin r = sin 30/ 1.49
sin r = 0.3355
r = sin(-1) 0.3355
r = 19.6 degree

i think the markscheme is wrong
they have applied the incorrect formula
it is n = sin i / sin r
but they have used n = sin r / sin i

Hey, so i see someone answered ur second question but for the first one..I got a little mixed up with that as well.
What they are asking is for the amount of water that was melted.. AND that is in the beaker. So therefore u gotta do..18.4- 2.1, which then equals 14.2.
I dont know if that was understandable, i mean im remembering the question of the top of my head.
By the way, was it me, or was the paper a little hard. What do u think Hope??? Noone will answer this question -.-

AND ALSO I THINK THE MARK SCHEME WAS WRONG!!!!!! I thought that too, because for sure it is Sini/sinr
