alright let see hopw can i expalin

16.3 (heat from heater +heat from surrounding)  -  2.1(heat from surrounding)  = 14.2 (heat from hetaer)

is tht easier...

u are correct but see, 16.3g was melted, and from tht 2.1 melted after the heating

so 16.3 and 2.1 are not the mass melted by heater...

the one melted from heater is when 2.1 was melted from the 16.3

wo wo wo it clearly says that 16.3 is melted when the heater is on then furthermore 2.1 g is melted AFTER the heater is off meaning the 2.1 g is the ice melted after the heater was turned off
it doesn't say that a total of 16.3 g of ice is melted man im getting tangled up in this question

the markscheme says this too..
but the doubt is that why do v have to subtract 16.3 and 2.1???

its clearly says that when 16.3g was melted...the heater was switched on..
thatsy we assume that there is no heat from the surounding..
??
v have to do this for all experiments right??

Hi! I had another tiny question (and probably a lot more as I do last minute revision so plz be patient with me).

Can you please explain to be how to predict the direction of alpha, Beta, and gamma radiations in a magnetic field? Thank you :D

gamma will be undeflected. Alpha and beta twill be deflected in opposite directions because they are oppositely charged. r=mv/bq so probably the alpha particle will be deflected less but you can also use the left hand rule to find which is whixch

ah ha now i get it Thanks dude

so its 14.2 g after all :D

n no IGSTUDENT im not pursuing a job in the physics field im planning fer medical inshAllah :) n i jus wanna ace it so i can get an admission in a good university :) n the way i looked up fer the requirements, 7 A* fer university of birmingham really made me think seriously over the whole " enjoy life n study up along side it " issue

lol u got it now. see the question in a different way/manner.... u see  16.3 is not lost by the heater only... they gave u a hint tht excess heat (not from the heater ) was also applied to the ice..

what u need to do, is to take out tht excess heat (by subtracting) and u get the actuall heat supplied by the heater (which is needed for the equation)

how do u get that?

answer is  1/2 X 12 X 5 = 30 m

but as the graph is abit curved so just take out 2-4 units, any of the whole numbers u like frm that range, frm the answer
thats what our teacher taught us n so u get the answer as 28

i hope that helps

okk..i have attached it...1c...
u have to draw a tangent to the point (where the dent lies)
this way u get the point on the x-axis near 24

24-20 = 4 --> 4/2 = 2

2*12 = 24m!
hope this helped
