Can u pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzz tel me what is LDR and and the light emittng one.. what are they used for???

LDR might be used yo turn streetlamps on at night. The  detect the light level  and when the light falls below a certain level the lights turn on

LEDs are used a light in electronics as one switches
Both are semiconductors and dont consume much power

1) A scientist wishes to investigate the deflection of ?-particles by an electric field. Draw a labelled diagram to suggest a suitable experimental arrangement. (Paper 3 November 2005) I don't even know how to draw electric field lines.

2) How to expand a) sensitivity b) range of a thermometer.

Hi,
I am not sure about your first question, but i do know the answer to the second.

To expand the sensitivity of a thermometer:
You make the capillary tube finer so that when the liquid expands it has a longer distance to travel.
Also, you could make the bulb of the thermometer bigger.
I don't know about the range though..

1)  Put on one side the source and ratemeter and a detector on the other side..
     now b/w them u put after the source a sheet bt it has a hole in it.. and then after that u put a Y-plates kind.. for the "charged metal plates"

2) for sensitivity..
u know there are lines on the thermometer ... u make these lines closer together.. so any slight change.. it will be detected./
and for the range .. make the two fixed points have a large differnce b/w them..
 I hope u'll understand.
