By the way those are brushes which connect to the circuit but in another way it's medium of connection which is joint to both brushes and coil...and it's function is to rotate with the coil...as when the coil in vertical it's doesn't have enough force to turn...the commutator overshoots the vertical and changes the direction of the current through it..making it turn.....commutators are mainly in dc motors ...in ac generators they don much as ac requires a shaft to turn the coil..not any source such as battery to be specific steam is used in power stations...

changes electrical to motion energy
the outside circuit is connected to a battery switch or rheostat
its brushes touch two halves of a commutator
Ac motor
supplied with ac current
changes motion to electrical
outside circuit is connected to lamp or voltmeter
its brushes touch 2 separate split rings

ANyway, So for the paper 6..the night before I did a past paper 2006 june. The first three questions in teh 2009 paper, were exactly the same. And i mean EEEZACTLY.
So, according to my calculations (inhaler, push glasses up nose, haha dork attack) umm, they might base paper 3 from June 2006 as well.
If you have an inhaler- umm I was kiddinggggg - i love people with inhalers :D <3
