so:
Time went by - it seemed this moment would never end. He squeezed his eyes shut..he wished to block out the visions before him.
Why couldn't they let him and his son, Alex live in peace? This quiet place, which had become their own pesonal heaven - a refuge from all kinds of disaster!
So they were back, the dreaded Mafia.
thinking hard, it was exhausting.his thoughts where frozen.
Hands shivering, heartbeat accelerating, eyes drooping from exhaustion, he struggled to move, inch by inch, out of sight of these inhumane monsters. His only fear was for his son. He had no wish to continue living - but his son, Alex? So innocent, so sweet. He deserved a chance to live, and Dan was determined to let him have it.He wud die for it!just to let them spare his son's life.he had to protect his son - if not himself, his son.He closed his eyes and prayed. For a moment he thought he heard the sweetest voice ever.It was speaking to him, calling his name.
(Alex's point of view)
Alex gaped at the AK47s in the thugs hands.
"Daddy, they're bad guys!", he whimpered.
Dan hated himself for making his son go through this. It was not fair to the young boy to face all this in such ripe and tender years. Only the Lord knew what imprint this would leave in his young childs heart.
If he lived to experience it.
The voice grew louder. Dans heartbeat accelerated. Maybe, there was hope after all.
but wait... it was fading. Dan jumped up from his position and ran. Ran so fast as his sons life depended on him now. Suddenly he felt something sharp hit his leg. NOOOO, he inwardly screamed. The pain was excrutiating.
He stumbled and fell heavily to the ground, his useless left leg dragging him down.... the thugs gathered over him and his son.....
"Get up!! now!! we've gotta take you to the Boss...."
they hauled him up roughly, along with his son. he understood now why they, crack shots at their preferred weapons, had shot him in the leg only...
