The Atkins diet is made for OBESE/OVERWEIGHT people. I suggest, you first know what categories you fall into -
Click here The principle of this diet is to replace carbohydrates (the primary source of energy) with fats and proteins. In this way, fats and proteins are used for energy and the "excess body fat to regulate glucose levels" - The mechanism is long and I'm sure you guys aint interested.
For general knowledge; Fats are the
source of energy during the periods of rest and light activity (like walking, sitting, typing etc.) and glucose (carbohydrates) is broken down during vigorous exercise.
Brain relies on glucose for energy, not on proteins or fats. That's why feel shaky and irritable when you haven't eaten for a considerable amount of time.
My suggestion (if you are
not overweight) is to have a balanced diet!
~ Fibres are very very important in your diet - and you get them from fruits, vegetables, rice, whole bread etc..
~ Nuts, seeds, meat, legumes are important sources of protein.
~Don't forget the dairy products - Milk, yoghurt, low-fat ice-creams!
~ Choose the right type of fats - avoid saturated or trans-fat. (McDonald's NO-NO)
~ other nutritional food, like fruit juices.
~ Eat variety of foods! Dont stick to the one sort.
You cannot live without carbohydrates, it's necessary for survival. If you want to "tone" yourself, than the key is physical exercise and the balanced diet.
Junk food is not forbidden - it is recommended in tiny amounts and by tiny amounts, I mean, twice in a week or once in a month.
Happy Food Journey!
