We'll hire based on the skills demonstrated during the application process (as well as judging the individual's potential to thrive as a leader/moderator), so bring only your best when you apply.
Everyone is allowed to apply – one application each. No more than one application per person. Each application must contain the following contents (see below), and must be emailed to the following email >> studentforums@hotmail.com with the subject title ‘Editorial Team Application’.
What is this Editorial Team and what do the members do?
All members of the Editorial Team have the duty of writing articles to SF's newsletters. Members of the Editorial Team are amongst the best of the best writers in SF. They will be in charge of any writing competitions that are/will be held in the forum and the newsletter.
What are the benefits of joining this team?
You get a coloured username, some of the moderation powers, as well as access to The Newsletter board (Staff Lounge).
What does the application consist of?
Every applicant must submit two new writing prompts (and two old ones) to prove their skills as a superior writer for StudentForums. Here are the requirements:
REMEMBER: Word count is your friend. It's available in Microsoft Word. If you don't have that, just Google for one.
#1 - A play
Based on your own observation, choose and describe 5 members on Studentforums by writing a play/ fiction on them. It must be 2000 words long.
#2 – A factual piece of writing
What makes Studentforums different from other forums? This can be 1000-1500 words long.
#3 - Two Links To Previous Writing Pieces [Poetry and/or Prose]
Choose your two best pieces that you've done in your past. Link them (or copy and paste) when you send your application in.
Also, please include the following details when you email your applications:
- Your username. Please note that name changes should not be carried out while applying for this job. It's hard to keep track of applications and having to deal with a sudden change in names of random applicants.
- How much time do you spend on SF?
- How many active pieces of writing do you have there? (If you have any, link one/two. Variety is good.)
- Where do you write? (Privately, or on another site? If online, link an account.)
- Why do you wish to be on the Editorial Team?
- What makes you qualify?
- How long have you been actively writing?
- What type of writing do you specialize in? Roleplaying? Fiction? Poetry?
- Do you write non-fiction too? (Out of school/work. i.e. free-time journalism articles, or long reviews.)
- Have you moderated before? (If so, where and what kind of duties did your job(s) entail?)
- What do you expect your duties will be, should you be chosen for this position?
Please compile your whole application into a word document with your "Username - Editorial Team App" as a title, and upload it to MediaFire.com (or another upload site, if that one doesn’t work). Then send us the link to the following email >> studentforums@hotmail.com.
PS: Keep your application virus-free. Infect my system and you’ll be fired before you’re hired.
Please be aware that activity, dedication, and time are what matters most for this position. If you feel that you do not have any of the three, do not apply for this job at all. Incomplete applications will naturally be rejected (you will be warned). It is also not a job for those who are merely interested in achieving a pretty-coloured username - this application is one of the hardest to complete on SF, and the competition can be great. The individuals selected for the positions will be imposed with their duties immediately, and will be expected to be able to complete them without fail. Should any individual fall off the activity radar, they can/will be replaced.
