if u only did c3 u can only get an A. because edexcel won't issue A* for individual modules. u can only get an A* for mathematics if u completed AS maths (c1,c2 + elective A) and AL maths (c3, c4 + elective B).

and u must get overall over 90% in A2 plus overall 80% in whole A level course to get an overall A*.

hope this can help u solve the problem :)

Hi,

Please help me clear out this tiny doubt.

Is it necessary that I must achieve A* in each individual unit or just overall??

For example:

A2 Edexcel Chemistry

Unit 4- 104/120 86.6%
Unit 5- 110/120 91.6%
Unit 6- 56/60 93.3%

Overall 270/300= 90%

Is it possible that because I didn't achieve A* (90%) in my Unit 4 exam but overall I did get 480/600, will it still have any affect on my overall grade for possibly achieving A*??

by reading your data provided, if you had already got an overall A in AS chemistry, congratulations, u secured an A* in AL chemistry!

yes it is possible. you dont really need to get all A*s in all units, so u only have to attain an overall A* in A2 units.

again congratulations!

Hi :)

concentrate more on unit 4,5 as more marks are alloted for it!! for eg, iodine- propanone reaction
n unit3- test for gases, anions, cations, flame tests, standard solutions etc should be known.
know all the tests for organic reactions (including unit1,2)
- for trans. element, i made this using excel , to help us remember colours and ppts.

make sure, u get the printout of sample + 2 unit 6 qpapers and DO them in EXAM conditions, will reward u greatly. know all the experiments procedures (eg, steam distillation, recrystallisation) and know to draw them.. as far as i have seen, they will definitely ask u to draw an experimental procedure.
(well, i myself, im looking for a website/book for drawing these expts, if anyone has, pls share :) )

hope it helps!
