heavy and light nuclei

why do lighter nuclei have the same number of protons and neutrons, while heavier nuclei have more neutrons than protons?

I don't think we really need to know about this at A-level. So I'll suggest that you don't worry about it for the time being. :)

no im not studying it in detail, our teacher just told us to think about it and find some kind of ans to it.

Actually thinking about it won't hurt........but going through all of it might confuse you even more if you're not very good in that topic. ;)
