well if any of you is taking Unit 2 EDEXCEL Chemistry then I suggest you read my report perhaps it might help you understand the main idea of this topic :)

Nitrogen Oxides: Nitrogen oxide is a free radical that comes from Nitrogen oxides, which are produced by car and aircraft engines and thunderstorms. Nitrogen oxide free radicals act as catalysts and hence are capable of breaking many ozone molecules. Nitrogen is unreactive and it needs high activation energy to react with oxygen. In cars engines, petrol ones' have spark to ignite fuel. Lightning and sparks are at 1400 Celsius and thus nitrogen breaks down and  reacts with oxygen to form Nitrogen Oxides.
