GCE Applied ICT Unit 3 Jan Exam 2011
« on: January 04, 2011, 08:05:39 pm »
I'll be sitting my Unit 3: The Knowledge worker exam, next week..
Before we go into the exam we are given the scenario.. I prepared Activity 1,2,3 and 4. However, i havent got a clue on how to solve activity 5 (the evaluation of how the spreadsheet performs). Can you please tell me how and what to evaluate?

And in activity 1, we are told to find the assumptions made? Is it just that we are assuming that the survey results match the real thing and that it may not be reliable information?
in Activity 2, we are asked to evaluate the sources of data given? Please, I need more help with this section! ???

To anyone who has done this exam before .. Please, I need your help! I'm sitting this exam for the first time, and I havent actually received much help from my teacher either .. Can you please advice me on how to prepare for this exam?

Thaaanks in advance :D  ;)

I just had a look at a past paper, It says...

All printouts must have a header and a footer. The header must contain the activity number. The footer must contain your name, candidate number and centre number.
Basically, u SHOULD write your name, otherwise the person who takes the printouts wouldnt know it was you who printed the thing out. you shouldn't also forget ur candidate no. or centre no. either.

By the way, are u doing the exam this week? If so, have u been tought how to do the evaluation section. I checked a marking scheme of one of the papers, it stated that the recommendation for improvement should be accompanied with data, method and source.. what on earth does that mean?! ???

I think i'm failing this  :( >:(

Hey, I'm working on the model and I've also listed the probable questions. Having a

really tough time out here to solve the model. How do you find out the cost of tickets?

The Number sold column in the CostRevenue sheet says #N/A and has the following formula

=VLOOKUP(E8/INDEX(Distances!$A$6:$G$12,MATCH(B8,Distances!$A$6:$A$12,0),MATCH

(C8,Distances!$A$6:$G$6,0)),Passengers!$A$8:$C$108,IF(D8="Short Haul",2,3)). Is it

supposed to show 366? Another thing, what is the current fuel cost/litre? I have entered

the following formula for Weekly Profit. It is =IF(D8="Short Haul",M8*7,M8*2). Anyone

please help. And the probable questions are:
Activity 1

•   Summarize and list key facts relevant to the problem you have to solve.

•   Outline the decisions you have to make.

•   Identify any restrictions.

•   State any assumptions you are making.

Activity 2

•   List the factors that could make the model different.

•   Explain how you propose to use the datasets.

•   State what information the datasets supply and why they are needed by the model.

•   Identify which data file you are going to use and justify your decision.

•   There are several factors that have not been taken into account in the

compilation of the data. List these factors.

 Activity 4

Write a report describing your recommendation. The report should include:
•   A suitable title.
•   Brief introduction and description.
•   Your recommendation.
•   A justification of your recommendation.
•   Any other factors that may need to be taken into account.
•   The decisions you came to.
•   An explanation of why you made these decisions.
•   At least one chart or graph.
•   A concluding statement.

Activity 5

Write an evaluation of the model considering:
•   How well you thought it performed
•   What else you would like it to do and how would you achieve this.
•   What other data may be needed to improve the model and how you would collect this

data.
