lol..

I planted new seeds in my garden :)

I haven't gotten much time to do gardening in a while...so today i thought i should take some time out and do it
And otherwise normally, I make it a point to conserve as much energy as possible

Nice. Plants really help, we already planted some seeds. =]

Yes, also reducing the use of energy is good. I am doing that, not just today but I do it always.=]

ADMIN: Use Postcodes in Subject lines, and simple tips on managing your FreeCycle messages (so you're not swamped!)

PUTTING YOUR POSTCODE IN THE SUBJECT LINE

Please remember to specify the first part of your post code in the subject line of messages you send, along with one of the words OFFERED, WANTED, TAKEN or ADMIN (as appropriate) and a description of the item. This makes life easier for everyone.

    e.g. OFFERED: SE1 talking clock

    MANAGING FREECYCLE MESSAGES

Here are the 3 main methods of keeping your Mailbox nice & tidy whilst not missing out on all that FreeCycle goodness.

    A) KEEP YOUR INBOX TIDY BY GIVING FREECYCLE MESSAGES THEIR OWN FOLDER

For those that don't know, with most mail software it's possible (and easy) to set up Mail Filters (a.k.a. Mail Rules) to deliver mail to a different folder in your Mailbox based on certain criteria (such as the address it was sent from or the subject line). This means that your FreeCycle mail doesn't get all mixed up with your other Inbox messages and stays nice n' tidy in its own folder.

There are some basic instructions on the FreeCycle London group
homepage (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/freecyclelondon/) under the Files section in the Folder named 'Help'. These instructions are for Hotmail and Yahoo mail. For other mail software such as Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express you'll want to look at the online help - it's fairly easy to set up and stops your mailbox being flooded with messages.

    B) RECEIVE DIGESTS (OF APPROX. 25 MESSAGES EACH) INSTEAD OF INDIVIDUAL MESSAGES

If you have a Yahoo! Mail or Yahoo! Groups account that you have registered with FreeCycle London with, visit the FreeCycle London group homepage (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/freecyclelondon/), log in and click 'Edit Membership'. Read down to the heading 'Message Delivery' and select 'Daily Digest'. You will receive one email per approximately 25 messages.

    C) READ FREECYCLE MESSAGES ONLINE INSTEAD OF HAVING THEM EMAILED TO YOU

If you have a Yahoo! Mail or Yahoo! Groups account that you have registered with FreeCycle London with, visit the FreeCycle London group homepage (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/freecyclelondon/), log in and click 'Edit Membership'. Read down to the heading 'Message Delivery' and select 'Special Messages'. DO NOT select 'No email' here, as it is mandatory that all FreeCycle group members receive at least these 'Special Messages' for when the Moderators need to make announcements.

Now you can read your messages online by visiting the group homepage address (above) and clicking 'Messages'.

    Cheers
    Ashley

    OFFERED NW10 computer stuff
    Posted by: "Judi" judi.wilson@phonecoop.coop   sebluca1999
    Mon Dec 15, 2008 12:42 am (PST)
    NOT A COMPLETE PC SYSTEM.
I have a Compaq V570 monitor, keyboard & mouse, and a kind of screen to
hang over the monitor to reduce glare - all functioning.
These might be useful for somebody who builds pc systems or for spares
    and repairs.
Failing that, does anybody know how to recycle pc components
responsibly? I am in NW10 and have no transport.
    Thanks in advance,
    Judi

BUT ..., lost the microphone, the cassette player is still working though.  A little dusty by now, needs a clean, might be good for a kiddie.  Still has the electric lead, can also be used with batteries.  If you have a mike, can still be used for taping.
