a)speed=sqrt((-2.5)^2+6^2)=6.5
b)360-tan^{-1} (2.5/6) =337 degrees
c)ship is at 16i+5j+t(-2.5i+6j)
when t=3 ship is at 16i+5j+3(-2.5i+6j)=8.5i+23j
d)at 1400 ship is at  16i+5j+2(-2.5i+6j)=11i+17j and then starts to move north with v=5j
position of ship t hours after 1200 is 11i+17j+5(t-2)j
e) due east mean the j components are the same
ie 23=17+5(t-2)
5(t-2)=6
t-2=1.2 hours
t=3.2 hours=3 hours 12 mins after 12 ie 1512
