need CIE help.
« on: October 26, 2011, 07:32:58 pm »
salam everyone.=)

i am doing Alevels and taking maths, physics, chemistry and biology.

I have got a vacation from school right now and have decided to make notes of the chapters which we have done till now at school and also those chapters which we havent done yet at school,so that i can be ahead of the syllabus.
will i be able to do them myself?you see, because making notes is very time consuming and practising maths takes time too.i was hoping i finish making notes soon for a few chapters and then start doing pastpapers.because there is no point in doing pastpapers when we have done only 3 chapters at school.

Any book recommendations?will i be able to do it? From which year shall i start practicing the pastpapers?

Also i have heard edxcel and CIE syllabus is 95 % same.so can i use edxcel books?

Yes, start making notes they help you immensely.
Begin with the first chapter. As you study make notes and go through your notes again with your textbook plus your syllabus infront of you so that you haven't missed any important points. Then choose the relevant questions from your past paper book and do them. Revise the questions and your short notes every weekend or so.
Remember that your short notes should be short, concise and to the point. Most short notes tend to go on for pages.

Math is all about practicing. The more sums you do, the better off you are at math. It'll never be considered to be time waste. Do ALL the sums in your textbook.

I was wondering, do you go for tuition classes? Because otherwise how would you understand what you haven't done in school?

Do your past papers from 2002 onwards. And if you've got any doubts don't hesitate to ask, even if it is minor.

Not 95% maybe about 90%. First be thorough with your CIE endorsed textbooks, then there's no problem going through other textbooks as well.

thanks a lot iluvme! =)

thats exactly how i make my notes, though i sometimes have a problem in making them concise.i thought of doing only a few sums from the text book for maths, but will do them all now,no harm in practicing when i have still got time.

Nuh-uh.i dont take tuition classes.but i'll manage bio,i've got a couple of good textbooks for it.chem i'll try, will take help from my sis.physics will be a problem so i'll only do chapters which i have done at school.besides i wont be able to do many chapters in theses few days,so this much will be fine.

Okay,i'll start the pastpapers from 2002.yup,will keep that in mind.

JazakAllah khairan. =)
