Most people who smoke wish they didn't. They live with a hatred for the habit they can't seem to do without. The fear of serious illness is usually there too, lurking in the background, and always that awful feeling of being powerless to quit.
Nicotine addiction does that to a person.

The overall bad health of the smoker results, on average, in a decrease of 8.3 years in his life expectancy, or about 12 to 14 minutes per cigarette. While there is no magic bullet that makes smoking cessation easy and pain free, there are steps you can take to develop the commitment necessary to quit smoking permanently.



There are a lot of ways to quit smoking and many resources to help you. Family members, friends, and co-workers may be supportive or encouraging, but to be successful the desire and commitment to quit must be your own.
Most people who have been able to successfully quit smoking made at least one unsuccessful attempt in the past. Try not to view past attempts to quit as failures, but rather as learning experiences.
Stopping smoking or using smokeless tobacco is difficult, but anyone can do it.
Know the symptoms to expect when you stop. Common symptoms include:

-An intense craving for nicotine
-Anxiety, tension, restlessness, frustration, or impatience
-Difficulty concentrating


*Designing your personal game plan
Tailoring a personal game plan to your specific needs and desires can be a big help. List the reasons why you want to quit and then keep copies of the list in the places where you’d normally keep your cigarettes, such as in your jacket, purse, or car. Your reasons for quitting smoking might include:
-I will feel healthier and have more energy, whiter teeth and fresher breath.
-I will lower my risk for cancer, heart attacks, strokes, early death, cataracts, and skin wrinkling.
-I will make myself and my partner, friends, and family proud of me.
-I will no longer expose my children and others to the dangers of my second-hand smoke.
-I will have a healthier baby (If you or your partner is pregnant).
-I will have more money to spend.
-I won't have to worry: "When will I get to smoke next?"

It's one of the worst habits ever!

I'm going to re-read your article MANY TIMES till I memorize it inshALLAH because I'm planing on making my relatives quit smoking.

To those who smoke, get it inside your thick skull that SMOKING KILLS. How can you enjoy this slow death?

Nicotine and Tobacco dont make good friends.

Cancer, Heart attack, stroke, Bronchitis, Emphysema and the others will make you suffer till death.  ::)

Oh, and if you think that smoking shisha/hookah instead of cigarettes is okay then think again.

You know, we are lucky that we haven't touched that 'hookah' yet. People find it really difficult to stop once they have started it. They describe the feeling as "euphoric".  ::) Relieves them from stress and tension and pain. I call them weak. 

We are just too cool for all that. We don't need the dirty works of nicotine, tobacco and tar to help us survive. Allah is the Best.  :D
