But the small softwares mostly are not compatible with apple and linux

no man its not really a prob.. almost all softwares are available for mac too.. now a days
that distinguish windows and apple which is not good about apple

I still have windows 98 SE on one of my desktops. Super fast, try it sometimes.

Just be careful to install a good anti-virus software.

yea XP is kind of ok, i use that tooo , Vista takes a hell of a lot of memory & same with windos 7 thaugh it takes lesss, & 98 is pretty gud tooooo !

Vista is serious CRAP. I know because i moved from vista to XP.. i found XP to be GOD!

if you use xp in daily then vista is pretty tricky that makes a difference also
