Rotational symmetry about centre by 360 degrees
« on: May 08, 2011, 07:02:29 pm »
A shape like kite has no rotational symmetry, am i right?
but if u rotate the kite 360 degress about its centre, it will return to its orginal postion
so, for shapes like kites, rotational symmetry is 0 or 1?

It should be 1 for kites ;)

Check this.

Hope it helps :)

but in that site its written
Quote
Is there Rotational Symmetry of Order 1 ?

Not really! If a shape only matches itself once as you go around (ie it matches itself after one full rotation) there is really no symmetry at all, because the word "Symmetry" comes from syn- together and metron measure, and there can't be "together" if there is just one thing.)
so is it 1 or 0?
