Computer Studies as well as ICT is useless at IGCSE and at O Levels.

Do not take either one of them as the skills taught, you will gain them simply if you know a little more about computers as well as your day-to-day work will teach you the skills anyways.

Chose a more helpful subject.

That is a biased opinion. You learn programming in IGCSE Computer studies which gives you a base for programming, in case you wish to join that league. ICT teaches you basics...nothing is waste. Knowledge is never a waste. My opinion.

I suggest you go through the syllabus of the 2 subjects. See where your interests lie and choose that subject. You will excel in doing what you like.

IGCSE ICT simply teaches you basic office application, and computer studies is a course on the hardware of a computer, which pretty much any computer enthusiast will know.

If you are however, not into computers or unaware of basic computer components as well as software, then these two subjects can be of some use, other than that, they simply add to the number of subjects that you have.

Believe me, because I took ICT.

Yes, if you know how to operate word, ppt, excel, access, then I beg you not to take it.

It is just a useless subject.

To begin with, you never specified with CIE. There was no board mentions.

I do not know much about CIE, but I think they pay a lot more importance on theory than practicals. That is the only practical difference, I think....

You can have a look at the specification. I did not take any computer based subjects at A level, and that is why I commented proactively regarding IGCSE.
