Title: What are .RAR files?

What are the .rar files I find in the IB subjects, they're quite large (more than 10mb), and they don't seem to work. Do I have to use a certain browser or settings to open them, and what are they?

NO man.     .rar  are zip files . U prbably dnt have a unzipping software in your pc. Go to www.filehippo.com and in the search type "peazip" or there are some other software like " winzip " . Download it, i recommend peazip. Post any questions if u still cant work it out.

Thanks I downloaded peazip, but I don't know how to use it. It asks for a password??

which file are you trying to download?
post the file here, or more like give us a link so that we can see whats goin on

Pea zip wont ask for a password unless the file ur are unzipping needs a password to be unzipped. Then bad luck man. U cant unzip it unless u have that password. Wht are u trying to unzip ?? Tell us the name plz
And have u dwnlded Peazip from www.filehippo.com ??

Instructions for using pea zip
1. Make a folder in the drive u want to unzip the file. Name the folder as u want to.
2. Run Peazip
3. There is a icon at the top of the Peazip, named " Extract all to ". Hit it and select the folder u have    created before.
The files will be unzipped in the specific folder u have selected and u can run them from now on.

I think the file has a password and someone is trying to find out what it is

It definitly can have a password. I thnk the fep admin just uploaded the file, without having a glance at it.
