Title: What is IB
Post by: lucien2a on November 20, 2009, 10:05:58 am
My cousin plan to study his pre-uni study and his option is A level or IB (Diploma)
So, can anyone explain it about the course duration, subjects combination, assements, exam session (months) and grade for the exam.
Thanks

IB has many diplomas. Most probably you are toalking about the higher year diploma. So in this diploma, you have to chose more a 'group of subjects' like sciences, business etc. It is pretty much the same as A level its just that this is not a british qualification, but Sweedish/Canadian/American one. It is far more practical, as in there is more field work and more science experiments. More info can be found on webpage that Q80 talked about.

The extended essay is about 40 hours research, how does this hours measure? It's just do all in college/uni and cannt bring back to home to do?
How do IB test on CAS, theory of knowledge and servise ?
