Post your CBSE questions here to get the answers back asap from someone with 3 maths/physics degrees.

Just thought you'd like to know something.
Most CBSE students are Indians.
CBSE maths is very, very, very hard (they do advanced trigonometry in year 6).
Most indians are very, very, very, good at maths (mainly due to the amount of coconut oil we use on our hair).
Hence, you wont find alot of posts here. (surprise, surprise :D)

i agree with ari ben canan. u r correct abt indians! they r very smart and well educated - more than any other nation in the world. and the amount of dedication the indians have for academics is nowhere to be seen.

Actually i wouldn't say CBSE maths is "very" hard...its just a lot to do and remember!!
Its actually more of rote learning......I mean the recent board exam session for maths paper had atleast 95 % of the solved examples questions from the CBSE books. Who would want to understand the questions when u have them solved?
It may be that us Indians are very "smart" but we are also stupid enough to learn things like robots!! Give them the CIE A level physics exam papers and i guarantee you that they will struggle with most of the questions. Except the numerical questions, they will just glide through those (even without thinking before solving) !!
You should check out how the CBSE practical papers...not much thought required...all very mechanical. Trust me the practicals in CBSE are an eye wash. Give them the A level physics practical papers and they will be baffled by what they have been missing!! I don't really enjoy the academic challenge that CBSE has to offer and i know many of friends that slog through CBSE as though their chosen subjects are a torture! That is why I chose to do CIE A levels.
But if you discuss about academia after CBSE then things start to get interesting, as the entrance exams for top universities like IITs and IIMs really test the smartness in us!!
So don't expect any CBSE questions asked here, because they have got what they need ! ;)

im an indian, but i am instead doing IGCSE.
i saw cbse question papers, and found them to be very direct.
they just ask, define that and explain that.
so they are actually easy if you can remember things by-heart and if ur good at mugging
while in igcse.
mugging wont help
u need experience (in past papers)
their questions are not direct
it will be more like a case study, and it is actually interesting.
in terms of over-burden, cbse stands above
in terms of applying logic and knowledge, IGCSE PROUDLY STANDS ABOVE.
in cbse math, calculators are not allowed even in 12th.
while igcses allow them
the main reason of the math test, is to test our logic, and how we apply it, arithmetic does not have to be the highest priority at that level. so a cbse result could not be accurate, while igcse results are more accurate about the logic and knowledge which we can apply.

Which country are u in sgvaibhav? Where are u doing CIE?
Are u planning to do IIT-JEE or AIEEE?
IGCSE is equivalent to 10th in CBSE but not in standards!! And A level is similar to 11th and 12th CBSE combined!!
I do hope that the CBSE realizes their standards compared to international boards and improves, so that every indian can benefit from the independent thinking required in boards like CIE!

im living in uae.
im planning to study over here only.
cbse needs to make their paper more practical.
they need to change their format of questions.
i bet a cbse 12th topper, when he tries an IGCSE paper, which has less syllabus, he wont manage to get an A*.
u need to have practical knowledge.
thats IGCSE.

Show grade 12 CBSE ppl an IGCSE paper (Literally IGCSE,, not A lvl) and see them sweating!!

you see, CBSE and most other indian boards require textbook knowledge ONLY....
no deducing scenarios, out of textbook knowlegde
u memorize the textbook and ur a winner!

IGCSE is a much more sophisticated form of education. The standard of English in CBSE cannot even be compared with that of IGCSE. For CIE IGCSE Literature we have to write four essays with open books while CBSE students 'fill in the blanks' and give one-word answers, trying their best to recall all the information in their books.
IGCSE focuses not only on knowledge but also on the applications of knowledge to things in real life.
For example, you can take French, a subject CBSE gives little importance to. IGCSE covers all aspects of French including Speaking and Listening. This is actually has practical use rather that mugging up tons of words and phrases.

there is on ething all of u people must remember. most of the indians who hold top positions in companies have a brackground of doing the cbse syllabus. cbse and igcse r 2 different formats. cbse is about building up a lot of knowledge whereas igcse is about having lesser knowledge but applying it for other purposes. it's not that cbse is bad or igcse is bad. it's ur choice which one u want to do.

guys just don't compare cbse maths with igcse.....cuz igcse maths is child'splay but cbse......ive seen the textbooks and they're scary.
but economics is not given much importance in cbse and yeah choice of subjects also not that much

yeah i agree add maths is not easy but we r talkin abt the normal maths that most of us have taken in ig......as compared to that cbse is far more difficult.....and yeah it still competes with add maths.....check some cbse books like R.D. Sharma..it's a killer man

cbse english is accepted as equivalvent to A level english everywhere in the world! moreover, cbse english is said to be more grammer based, so everyone knows that indian cbse students excel (far better than ig students) at writing, but speaking........., that's another story.
