Title: Increased University Tuition Fee's
Post by: should89 on May 28, 2012, 11:00:42 am
I'm currently studying my AS levels and soon will be choosing my university placements.

I come from quite a poor background and with the recent increases in tuition fee's here in the UK, I am genuinely considering my options as to whether it is viable to go to university or not.

Are other people feeling the same? What are the alternatives, if any?

If you do good in your alevels, you get scholarships for full tuition fees.

Atleast you are not international when fees are much higher!

I'm a pretty good student, but don't know whether 'all paid' scholarships are the answer.

I want the paperwork, not necessarily the whole 'university lifestyle'.

I was looking at doing a distance learning course such as this: http://www.brightonsbm.com/hnc-hnd-courses/hnc-business.htm

Could save lots living at home still.

Thoughts?

My uni is increasing the tuition fee again this year and we aren't even allowed to do a petition. -.- Seriously pissed off.

i just think that as the fees have gone up it will make people more careful about whether they deem their course to be worth it. i am currently studying geography and i would sya that what i get out of my course, the tuition and perosnal attention among other things would not be worth the increased fees. something like a medical degree i think would be. maybe its a good thing people will be forced to truly think about the course they are about to spend a large amount of money on!

Don't be deterred by tuition fees. Get your degree then emigrate. They'll never get you in Botswana.

If you need financial aid to pay your tuition fees apply for US scholarships (http://getusscholarships.com/scholarships-by-school/)
