Title: --The Art of grooming your Soul--
Post by: username on December 18, 2011, 02:16:20 pm
Asssalam-o-alaikum!! (U may say Wa-alaikum-os-salam in your hearts)
I have got this most extraordinary Idea!==> Share a Hadith, a Quranic Quotation or even a good--very good Piece of Advice here!
JUST IMAGINE
How many of us may read it ===> may even implement on it, and in return you shall get the reward and others benefit!
Awesome, no?
I mean, just posting a single quranic verse or a hadith ( or even an inspirational story, an ADVICE..anything), is it sucha BIG DEAL? Don't hesitate then! JUST POST IT!
You know our religion is very easy but we have made it difficult for us!!

Groom Your Souls is what the topic says!

Look, man is made up of body and soul. The body is a cage, and the soul is inexhaustible fountainhead of life that temporarily resides in it. It never dries up even after the death of the person in whose body it dwelt for a certain period of time. Life goes on. It never ceases.
The soul is so invigorating a force that within few hours of its liberation from the body (cage), the body decomposes and stinks. Thus, the soul nurtures the body till it remains in it. Body signifies impermanence, and soul the permanence. Most people all their life take good care of their body but ignore the soul. They keep their body well-treated, and the soul maltreated. After liberation from such a body, the soul, not even for a while, hovers over the departed person (body), and joins the mainstream of life.

Very few people take a good care of their souls. They honour the soul’s permanent link with eternity. They do not corrupt the cage (body) and do not pollute it with filth. When liberated from such a cage, the soul, in its state of consciousness, hovers over the deceased for a certain period of time.

I hope you get FULL ADVANTAGE of this thread and GROOM your souls well!
Thank You (JazakAllah)
May Allah bless you all!!

p.s
please give the refrence to the hadith and quranic ayah:)

Here I'll go first =]

?"When you go closer to Islam, it’s natural for you to become alone. People won’t be there as much as they were, and you’ll have a hard time connecting with anyone on any sort of level. But, Allah does this to give you strength, to enrich you with independence from imperfection and to rely only on Him."

glad u think its a good idea :D

Narrated Uthman ibn Affan (RAA) Rasulullah (SAW) at the time of our returning from our prayer told us (certain things pertaining to purification).
He said: I do not know whether I should tell you a thing or keep quiet. We said: Rasulullah, tell us if it is good and if it is otherwise, Allah and Messenger (SAW) know better. Upon this he said: A Muslim who purifies (himself) and completes purification as enjoined upon him by Allah and then offers the prayers, that will be expiatious (of his sins he committed) between these (prayers). (Sahih Muslim Book 2, Hadith # 0444)

Never get tired of asking Allah for whatever you need. Because humans get tired, they get bored, they get restless from listening to you; but not Allah. He is beyond that. Allah is beyond it. Shaytan wants you to feel embarrassed to ask for the same thing again and again, but who else will help you? It’s only Allah, so keep asking. Never tire of asking from Allah; because He will never tire of giving you.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 3.724      Narrated by Abu Huraira
Allah's Apostle said, "A pious slave gets a double reward." Abu Huraira added: By Him in
Whose Hands my soul is but for Jihad (i.e. holy battles), Hajj, and my duty to serve my
mother, I would have loved to die as a slave.

Nice thread.
Thank you :)

Your Lord has commanded that you worship none but Him, and that you be kind to your parents. If one of them or both of them reach old age with you, do not say to them a word of disrespect, or scold them, but say a generous word to them. And act humbly to them in mercy, and say, “My Lord, have mercy on them, since they cared for me when I was small.” (Quran, 17:23-24, see also 31:14, 46:15, and 29:8)

And be afraid of the Day when you shall be brought back to Allah. Then every person shall be paid what he earned, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly.

[2:281]

“Have We not spread the earth like a bed, and fixed the mountains like pegs, and created you in pairs (as men and women), and made your sleep a means of repose, and made the night a covering, and made the day to seek livelihood, and built above you seven strong firmaments, and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, and sent down abundant water from the clouds so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, and gardens dense with foliage?”

Remember just this while you're doing a good deed-- you're doing it solely for the pleasure of Allah (SWT)...cos the sincerity of our intentions increases the rewards ;)...

After fajr namaz, do zikr and remain on the mat till sunrise. As long as you're on the mat, complete your tasbeeh and then recite Surah Yaseen. After the makruh time is over (which is after the sun is out), pray 4 rakats of Ishraq. Whichever day you do this, Allah will inshaAllah take the responsibility of your entire day. How beautiful, isn't it? My teacher told me about this. Please remember me, and her, in your prayers. :)

Oh yeah, always remember to pray for the hidayat of your entire Ummat. :)

'A youth who grew up in the worship of Allah...'

The great scholar, Ayyub as-Sakhtiyani (d.131H) said, 'From the success of a youth is that Allah guides him to a scholar of the Sunnah.' Hasan - Reported in Sharh Usulis-Sunnah of al-Lalika'i (no.30).

Indeed, it is a great blessing from Allah for a youth h be guided towards worship and be befriended by the righteous, since it is in youth that a person is most vulnerable to the temptations of life and liable to drift away from the Islamic Path. This becomes apparent when we look at society around us and we see that most of the worldly distractions, such as music, games, clubs, fashion etc. are all specifically targeted at the young. 'You're only young once!' they are told, which is why many Muslims nowadays waste their youth thinking that they will pray, wear hijaab and go on Hajj, etc. when they are old, as if they have a guarantee of longevity from Allah! How well we would do to heed the Prophet's advice when he said:
'Take benefit of five before five: your youth before your old age, your health before your sickness, your wealth before your poverty, your free time before you are preoccupied and your life before your death.'
Sahih - Narrated by Ibn Abbas & collected in al-Haakim & others. Authenticated by Shaykh 'Ali ibn 'Abdul Hamid in Forty Hadith of the Call and the Caller.

Dying not in a state of Islam - Reminder

Some people have died while singing songs, while others have died while reciting Qur’an, some people have faced death when a cinema hall catched fire while others faced Malikul Maut in a stampede during Hajj. Different people. Different Actions. Different ways of Dying. Prophet Muhammad (Sall Allaahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam) said: ” A person dies the way he lives and will be resurrected the way he died.”

How would we like to face death? While dancing in a disco or while in sujood in a masjid? While singing songs or reciting Qur’an? When its time the Angel of Death does not wait for us to come out of disco to take our souls. They reach wherever we are and do their task. Lets leave all the acts of Allaah’s disobidience today, from Now itself. Because if our life will be spent in the obidience of Allaah then we will die as an obidient slave InshaAllaah. Lets Wake up before we Never Wake up! Share the powerful reminder!

Surah Al Baqarah

(164. Verily, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, and the ships which sail through the sea with that which is of use to mankind, and the water (rain) which Allah sends down from the sky and makes the earth alive therewith after its death, and the moving (living) creatures of all kinds that He has scattered therein, and in the veering of winds and clouds which are held between the sky and the earth, are indeed Ayat (proofs, evidences, signs, etc.) for people of understanding.)

--
You can be the smartest person alive on earth, have many Phd. degrees..but what good is your knowledge if you have failed to use the knowledge and connect to the Lord of the universe?

Ever wondered how perfect the world is? The harmonious balance between the night and day, air and water? Haven't we heard for the past many years that water is going to run out, Ozone layer depleted completely and UV rays killing us? Has it actually happened yet? We go to the moon and comeback and say "there's no God"...? Where's the common sense?

---

Allah said:(Verily, in the creation of the heavens and the earth...)

Therefore, the sky, with its height, intricate design, vastness, the heavenly objects in orbit, and this earth, with its density, its lowlands, mountains, seas, deserts, valleys, and other structures, and beneficial things that it has. Allah continues:

...and in the alternation of night and day.)

This (the night) comes and then goes followed by the other (the day) which does not delay for even an instant, just as Allah said:
(It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit.) (36:40)

Sometimes, the day grows shorter and the night longer, and sometimes vice versa, one takes from the length of the other. Similarly Allah said:

(Allah merges the night into the day, and He merges the day into the night) (57:6) meaning, He extends the length of one from the other and vice versa. Allah then continues:

(. ..and the ships which sail through the sea with that which is of use to mankind,)

Shaping the sea in this manner, so that it is able to carry ships from one shore to another, so people benefit from what the other region has, and export what they have to them and vice versa.

Allah then continues:

...and the water (rain) which Allah sends down from the sky and makes the earth alive therewith after its death), which is similar to Allah's statement:

(And a sign for them is the dead land. We give it life, and We bring forth from it grains, so that they eat thereof.) (36:33), until:

(which they know not.) (36:36)

Allah continues:(and the moving (living) creatures of all kinds that He has scattered therein,) meaning, in various shapes, colors, uses and sizes, whether small or large. Allah knows all that, sustains it, and nothing is concealed from Him. Similarly, Allah said:

(And no moving (living) creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allah. And He knows its dwelling place and its deposit (in the uterus or grave). All is in a Clear Book (Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuz ?€ the Book of Decrees with Allah).) (11:6)

(...and in the veering of winds...)

Sometimes, the wind brings mercy and sometimes torment. Sometimes it brings the good news of the clouds that follow it, sometimes it leads the clouds, herding them, scattering them or directing them. Sometimes, the wind comes from the north (the northern wind), and sometimes from the south, sometimes from the east, and striking the front of the Ka`bah, sometimes from the west, striking its back. There are many books about the wind rain, stars and the regulations related to them, but here is not the place to elaborate on that, and Allah knows best.

Allah continues:

(...and clouds which are held between the sky and the earth,)

The clouds run between the sky and the earth to wherever Allah wills of lands and areas.

Allah said next:

(...are indeed Ayat for people of understanding,) meaning, all these things are clear signs that testify to Allah's Oneness. Similarly, Allah said:

(Verily, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding. Those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted are You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.'') (3:190, 191)

How many times do we look at the beautiful flowers, the sky, the food etc. and glorify our lord? Hold on, do we even have time these days to glorify His creation?

The Soul Cries - Imam Ali (AS) poem

The soul cries over this world and yet acknowledges that the happiness within it is to abandon what is within it
There is no house for the individual to live in after death, except for the one that he built before his death
And if he built it with goodness, pleasing his settlement will become
And if he built it with evil, dissapointed its builder will be
Our money for our heirs we collect it, and our homes for the corruption of time we build it
Where are the kings that were proudly dictating? Till the pourer of death poured death upon them
And how many cities were built upon the horizon? Which eventually became devastated while its citizens tasted death
Don’t submit to this world and what’s within it, for surely, without a doubt, death will end us and end it
For every soul, even if it was powerful, had hopes that were overcome by death
The individual entertains it [the soul] while time kills it
And the individual opens it, while death puts an end to it
Surely the perfection of morals is pure
Religion is its first, intellect is its second
And knowledge is its third, and tolerance is its fourth
And generous is its fifth, and graciousness is its sixth
And activity serving the people is its seventh, and thankfulness is its eighth
And patience is its ninth, and gentleness is its preserver

And the soul knows that I do not befriend it
And I won’t take the wise step to disobey it
And I work for tomorrow world [the Hereafter] to the satisfaction of its ower
And the neighbour is Ahmed [saaw] [in heaven] and the Merciful [SWT] is its creator
Its palaces are golden, and its heavenly perfume is its mud
And the saffron is its lushed grasses, graffitied upon it
Its rivers are yoghurt, purified and of honey
And heavenly wine flows, of sweet nectar, in its canals
And the birds fly between their branches, praising Allah [SWT] loudly in their songs
And whoever wants to own a home here he should build it, with a sincere prayer in the darkness of the night.

[yt=425,350]6WTROzs13uI[/yt]

This is so beautiful that I cry every time I listen to it. :')

Its a magnificent read, and the woman is American, gotta learn something's from them.

The best form of remembrance is that of the Qur`an. Will you allow your heart to find rest through it?

In the Name of Allaah…

Most people entertain bad thoughts about Allaah regarding their own personal situations and the situations of others.  The only ones who remain safe from this are those who truly know Allaah, His Names, His Attributes, and what His Wisdom and Right to be praised really entails.

So let every sincere, sound-minded individual focus on himself regarding this, and then repent to Allaah and seek His Forgiveness from the negative notions he entertains about his Lord.

Look closely at anyone!  You will find that people become upset with Qadr and blame things on it, saying that, “It should have been this way or that way…”

Some people behave this way only rarely, others more commonly!

Inspect yourself – Are you innocent!?

If you are saved from it, you are safe from something terrible…
But really, I doubt you are even safe!

-Ibn al-Qayyim

This is a passage from the great writings of al-’Allaamah Ibn Qayyim al-Jowziyyah, as quoted in the book, Kitaab at-Towheed, by Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Abdil-Wahhaab.

This passage was an explanation of some Qur’aanic verses exposing the notions and ill assumptions of the hypocrites after the defeat suffered at the Battle of Uhud.  It is absolutely amazing how this great scholar tied the filthy beliefs of the hypocrites to our own hearts and actions, and guided us to take a an important personal lesson from the hidden enemies of Islaam and their false notions about the Wisdom of Allaah and His Qadr.

From the attributes of the hypocrites is that they do not submit to the Qadr of Allaah, instead they find fault with it, and claim that things would have been better had they been in charge of the affair!

Review Soorah Aal ‘Imraan (3:154).

Ibn al-Qayyim said, “Inspect yourself – Are you innocent?!”

I remind myself and my brothers and sisters in Islaam to sincerely think about the following statements and ponder over how distant we are from them in reality:

“That’s just great!  This is why I hate Mondays!”
“What is wrong with this laptop?  Another virus!!  And of course this would happen NOW, when I have all this important work to finish!!”
“The car seems to break down every time I’m running late!”
“My stupid cellphone keeps shutting down…!”
“Oh great!  One more red light!  As if I’m not late enough!”
“I stoved my toe on that stupid table!”
These small everyday trials we face and the emotions we react with are all part of our personal test.  Our reactions, beliefs, and statements are all being recorded!

With the above mentioned complaints and reactions, who are we actually displeased with?  We know that the table didn’t do anything to our toe, right?  We know that cars, cellphones, and laptops don’t actually choose to do things to harm us in reality, right?

So then, again – WHO or WHAT are we really displeased with when uttering these kinds of statements?

We desperately need our spouses, friends, and companions to remind us, quite simply, with the following question:

Are you unhappy with the Qadr of Allaah?

Let us replace the bad reactions mentioned with the very best guidance available, the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam):

“…And if something (bad) befalls you, do not say, ‘Had I only done such-and-such, then such-and-such would have happened, rather say: Qadrullaahi, wa maa shaa’ fa’ala (This is from the Qadr of Allaah, and He does whatever He wills).” [Muslim]

Let us affirm everything we face as the Qadr of Allaah, submit to Allaah being pleased with the trial He (and no one else) has chosen for us, and be afraid of a bad reaction that would be written against us and handed to us on the Day of Account.

And Allaah knows best.

Author: Ibnul Qayyim al Jawziyyah, Source: Madarij as-Saalikeen (vol. 3, pp. 17-18 )

First, reciting the Qur’an while pondering over its meanings and what is meant by it.

Second, getting closer to Allaah by performing voluntary deeds after completing obligatory deeds. This is as is stated in a Hadith Qudsi: “My slave continues getting closer to Me by performing voluntary deeds until I love him.”

Third, continual remembrance of Allaah under all circumstances, with one’s tongue, heart and actions. The extent of one’s love of Allaah is determined by this.

Fourth, giving precedence to what He loves over what you love when you are overtaken by your desires.

Fifth, the heart being avid of Allaah’s Names, and Attributes and the heart roaming in that garden of knowledge.

Sixth, observing Allaah’s kindness, goodness and bounties, both hidden and open.

Seventh, and this is the most wonderful, the heart being soft, subdued and meek before Allaah.

Eighth, being alone with Allaah during the time when the Lord descends during the last portion of the night while reading His Book and ending that by asking for forgiveness and repenting.

Ninth, sitting with the beloved and sincere, benefitting from the most fruitful of their speech. And not to speak unless speaking is more beneficial and you know that it will improve your state and be beneficial to others.

Tenth, remaining away from every cause that comes between the heart and Allaah.

Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that the Prophet (SAW) said:

'When you hear a rooster crowing, then ask Allah for His bounties, for it has seen an angel, and when you hear a donkey braying, then seek refuge in Allah from Shaitan, for it has seen a Shaitan'

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said, “Do not wish for death, for the terror of the place whence one looks down is severe. It is part of a man’s happiness that his life should be long and Allah Who is Great and Glorious, should supply him with repentance.”

Allah. There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).

(Quran 2:255)

Surah Al Fatiha - an conversation with Allah through Salah

When my servant says [alhamdulillahi rabbilalamin] Allah says in response to that my servant has praised me.
When my servant [arrahmanir rahim] Allah says in response my servant has extolled (exalted) me.
When my servant says [maliki yomiddin] Allah says my servant has magnified me.
When my servant says [iyyakanabudu waiyyaka nastain] Allah says this is between me and my servant and for my servant is what he asks. And for the rest of the [ayaat] Allah says this is between me and my servant and for my servant is what he asks.

Hey buddies. New to the forum actually this is my first post. I read your whole thread and i must say that this should be kept in mind. Morality in every society is as important as the education. The most important thing is the education as this teaches you about the morality and make the society an ideal place for living.
