Dentistry

Dentistry is the branch of medicine that is involved in the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders and conditions of the oral cavity, maxillofacial area and the adjacent and associated structures and their impact on the human body.
Dentistry is widely considered necessary for complete overall health.

There are a number of first professional degrees in dentistry offered by schools in various countries around the world. These include the following:

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS)
Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD)
Bachelor of Dentistry (BDent)
Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS or BChD or BDentS)
Bachelor of Dental Science (BDSc or BDentSc)
Bachelor of Dental Medicine (BDM)
Licentiate in Dental Surgery (LDS)
Graduate Diploma in Dentistry (Grad Dip Dent)
Master of Dentistry (MDent)
Master of Stomatology (MStomat)
Master of Dental Surgery (MDS)
Doctor of Dentistry (DD)[1][2]
Cirujano Dentista (CD)[citation needed]
Candidate of Odontology (Cand.Odont.)
Doctor of Medical Dentistry (Dr.Med.Dent.)

Each fully qualifies the holder to practice dentistry in at least the jurisdiction in which the degree was presented, assuming local and federal government licensure requirements are met.

Check the various dental degrees provided according to the country of your choice. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dental_degree)

Each country may have their own requirement for Dental admissions so before applying please make sure that those requirements are taken into proper consideration.
As far as I know, subjects such as Biology and Chemistry are compulsory along with additional subjects such as Physics or Mathematics.

Any questions, please feel free to ask. :)

Very useful stuff for those studying dentistry!

I just want to note that subjects required to be taken in AS/A-levels to qualify for studying this subject all depends on the country you are going to study in.

Yes. :)

Of course it does. But, Biology and Chemistry is compulsory and in some countries ... Physics is too. :)

Yes. Until AS is acceptable. :)

But, I'd suggest that they do it. Having only IGCSE knowledge of Physics is not at all enough.

Physics has a very important role in the Dentistry course.

Actually it depends on the university ;)

Usually 3 science subjects are required :) So you need at least 3 from this list :
1. Physics
2. Chemistry
3. Biology
4. Mathematics

If am not mistaken all 3 of them should be upto full A level ;)

Hey. :)

I haven't started any lectures on Dental Materials yet (will be doing from next semester) but I'll look up on some introductory lectures on our main server from the previous year and I'll ask some of seniors for the lectures as well. :)

I'll need a day or two to put up the lectures.
