www.freeexampapers.com now has more backlinks than www.fleet-tutors.co.uk overall. They are the uk's largest tutoring agency. I have a personal interest since I used to work for them. At the moment, looking at our respective alexa ranks I reckon www.freeexampapers.com gets around 20 times as many hits as them. Their website has no content on it at all, and only has a pagerank of 4 because of all the internal backlinks between different fleet-tutors websites.
freeexampapers is now getting links from schools, tutoring agencies, blogsites and forums. I reckon the number of backlinks to increase by several times in the next year. The website is coming top for "exam papers" in google, or nearly so, and is moving up the ranks for "past exam papers".

I have an idea that will make this website not only the best for past papers, but one of the best student sites in the world:
I think we should make 2 or 3 other sites. 1 of which can be a dupe site, maybe in reserve incase anything like what happened a couple of months ago happens again. I think we should make a dedicated forum for students and there they can talk and chat about anything and everything, much like TSR, but hopefully better. And lastly, you should have a website that acts as a secondary source i.e. you can get that wesbite to look stunning and make it look perfect. That can be the development website.
I know friends who have used these techniques, especially the forum method and dev site, to gain thousands of hits a day.

Briefly, very briefly yesterday, everything wenthaywire. www.examforum.net had a pagerank of 5 and www.freeexampapers.com had a pagerank of 7, then 6, then 5, and a website I set up for a doctor a week ago had a pagerank of 6. Then everything went back to normal. Or maybe I was dreaming then I woke up.

I have been thinking of all the ways in which you can measure the traffic of websites. For example, type freeexampapers.com into google and get 2200 results. Type in blackpapers.info and get 964 results. Is this a measure of traffic, since these are for the most part dynamic pages and presumably are only indexed when they are loaded.

if google reboots its server then i think it will do it in a way (Its possible) so that no data can be lost... so i think the pageranks came up for some reason that i don't know.

At last! www.freeexampapers.com is coming up in google for past papers - the top serch time used by people looking for past exam papers. It came up 47th earlier today and just came up 42nd. It may be top by xmas. It wont be long before their webhoster tires of the strain being put on their servers and boots them off for good.
It might not seem like much but now www.freeexampapers.com is 40th in google for past papers.

I have been looking at blackpapers, specifically, the number of people online. Usually it is aound 15 or so, maybe slightly more than this forum, probably several times less than www.freeexampapers.com, and I think freeexampapers is beating them overall. Next freeexampapers has to start beating the exam boards.

I have looked at data more up to date than from the graph above, also from alexa, and I think that on Monday for the first time, www.freeexampapers.com was the internet's number 1 past papers website. According to alexa, on Monday www.freeexampapers.com had a traffic rank of 52000, and the next highest ranked was aqa.org.uk with a rank of 55000. I realise there is room for error here, and will be more confident to claim top spot for www.freeexampapers.com when this is sustained over time with a difference of more than 3000 traffic places. But it is a first.

Amazing though it seens http://www.tutoragency.org which looks pathetic now has 120 or so tutors. This is the programmer's personal idea which I never thought was any good, but it seems I may have been wrong.

The recession is biting the pricvate tuition in England reaaly bad. Why, the uk's largest agency, fleet-tutors.co.uk have had to cut their advertising budget down so they now have virtually no advertising backlinks. At one stage I thing they had 50.

They've got specialist under them. Not just school studens but graduates and under-graduates as well. Whereas, we're just too young and un-experienced to povide such help. They've got many members too. :P AND, they are HUGE. :o Try visiting tsr someday. Yuh'll get it cleared. :D

The studentroom has been around for about 10 years. In five years we will have a full range of students when the original igcse/gcse students have been through university. It is worth them staying as long cos I can answer maths and physics questions up to postgrad level.
