What is morality, or ethics? Let me stress this. The first question is not: What particular code of values should man accept? The first question is: Does man need values at all—and why?
-
Ofc man needs basic etiquettes.
Why? To be accepted. To be respected. To be loved. To be remembered.
-
Aren't codes of morality are ultimately to protect the weak or vulnerable ?
-
Who designs this code of morality.
Man or our inner-consciousness.
-
Society.
-
If its developed by society, it should be faulty at the very foundation.
Man should only live according to what his inner self tells him to do

Do you believe in the animal in man?
-
Man is by nature a political animal
-
Inner self of the man is violent.
-
what i mean to say is that since man is a political animal, whatever code he designs will always be faulty.
Our inner self is not violent ::).Who told you that.

Isn't?
If all the knowledge in the world is destroyed.. What will man do after that?
Without society and it's codes, what will be released is the inner nature.
-
Law flows from the very nature of things. It is our recognition that because things are the way they are we should act in a certain way.
-
That is society and obligation.
-
Um. I think i am not making myself clear.forgive me.
Code of morality designed by society is faulty because greed overtakes every other feeling when in power of designing a code.
While our inner self will always be freed from greed as there are no temptations of money.
-
I pretty much follow the core duties of my religion. But I sacrifice my ethics or morality if that means I will gain something materialistic, provided the risk:reward ratio is good.
-
Do you believe in the animal in man?
I do. I believe man is selfish and like any other animal it will betray and prey to achieve what it wants.
If a man can overcome his animal instincts and look for peace and happiness, he is commendable and respectable
Now who decides what is right/wrong? No one decides it for you. It your call
But...But...there is a certain code of conduct which is universal...No one can defy it.
No one can say murder, rape or robbery is morally right! No.
Some of our beliefs come from our holy books...major doubt! Are these the words of the Almighty himself or is it man again who tries to gain something out of it. I do not know.
Decadence comes from malpractice. The society has set some moral standards...after giving it much thought. It has been decided by concerted action of the society as a whole and we cannot undermine it. To fit in, you need to comply with the laws of the society.
-
But who has designed this Universal code of conduct. ::)
-
Man is a moral being. It just messes up some times.
No, the human race would be extinct if it were not for a moral code.
-
But who has designed this Universal code of conduct. ::)
You didn't read my post. I've mentioned the potential sources.

LOL, a man could. But society, would crash. ;)

i've always..always believed that a person is never bad..can never be bad...he definitely DEFINITELY has some or the other good quality/virtue...its always either society, or the circumstances that force him to become something else, that is if at all he's not sure of himself and is not strong enough. it's very complicated, how things work within a person who's bad, or whom people have tagged as bad- like murderers...I mean, they are bad. but if we look back at their history, it's about something going very wrong with the upbringing..there could be other reasons! hehe a very funny example i'll give here is voldemorts- look at him, yeah...someone who ultimately died..and was weak out and out! but he had a bad and poor history- lived in an orphanage, didn't have anyone to look after him, his mum died..he's dad left his mum when she was carrying him! made him get more and more creepy...then, he became power-hungry..wanted to rule! bla bla!
Anyhow....the bottom line is no...man cannot!

obv man needs a code to live by but the it should be certainly determined by himself n not society ! but that doesn't mean he can just go around destroying human race, nature or animal ! the self designed should be such that it never does harm any1 or anything
